AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE NAME OF A f
NEW ROAD AS UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD
IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin requests the street name for a new roadway,
originating at the intersection of State Route 161 and Industrial Parkway, be
established as "University Boulevard "; and
WHEREAS, Engineering and Police have reviewed this request and determined that
such action would be beneficial to the public health, welfare or safety.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
of its elected members concurring, that:
Section 1. The name of this new roadway is hereby established as "University
Boulevard."
Section 2 . The City Engineer is hereby directed to have this recorded with
Franklin and Union Counties and update the street name signs.
Section 3 . This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the
earliest date permitted by law.

Re: Ordinance 106 -14 — An Ordinance to Establish the Name of a New
Road as University Boulevard in the City of Dublin, Ohio
Summary
In August, staff presented Resolution 74 -14 to accept the lowest and best bid for the construction
of Academic Drive. This road will start on the south side of the existing roundabout at the
intersection of State Route 161 and Industrial Parkway. The current phase will construct
approximately 650 feet of the road to the south. The construction of this first phase is underway
with a scheduled completion date of May 15, 2015.
Staff recently received a request from the Ohio University. Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine
(OU HCOM) to reconsider the proposed name of this roadway. This is a new roadway in the City of
Dublin and the City can establish the road name. The proposed road name is "University
Boulevard." Staff has reviewed this request and the proposed name is acceptable. This road name
will need to be established in both Franklin and Union Counties.
The current construction is being performed under a Right of Entry Agreement with OU HCOM. OU
HCOM is required to dedicate (at no cost) the right of way for this road. They are currently
processing this paperwork. We will use the deed as a reference document when recording this
Ordinance with the county recorder's office.
Recommendation
Staff recommends adoption of Ordinance 106 -14 at the second reading /public hearing on
November 3, 2014 in order to establish the name of a new road as University Boulevard in the City
of Dublin, Ohio.
