AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH
CA-BOTICS FOR THE PURPOSE OF JOINT FIBER OPTICS
INSTALLATION, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
~ WHEREAS, Dublin City Council desires to enhance the City's investment in technology by
providing fiber optic pathways for an "Institutional Network"; and
WHEREAS, Dublin City Council promotes the deployment of fiber optics in accordance
with goals set forth in Chapter 98 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Dublin; and
WHEREAS, Dublin City Council desires to seek a unique partnership opportunity with Ca-
Botics, aDublin-based company to deploy fiber optics in existing storm and sanitary sewer
lines; and
WHEREAS, Washington Township and Dublin City Schools have expressed an interest in
use of fiber optics; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with Ca-Botics; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to declare an emergency to ensure the public safety, health and
welfare and to ensure timely construction
NOW, TH~,$EFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of
Ohio, of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement
with Ca-botics for the joint installation of fiber optics.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to subsequently lease or sell fibers to
Washington Township and/or Dublin City Schools for their use and as contributors toward
the overall cost of the project.
Section 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the
preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare. Communications systems
housed in this facility will assist safety-related services (i.e., Police and Fire). It is also
necessary to begin construction in order to take advantage of available resources and the
construction season. Therefore, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately
upon adoption.
