AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 91, §91.27(A) OF THE
CITY OF DUBLIN CODIFIED ORDINANCES
WHEREAS, Chapter 91 §91.27 (A) established a requirement for owners of dogs to have
their dogs immunized against rabies; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin contracts with the Franklin County Board of Health to
provide health preservation services; and
WHEREAS, the Franklin County Board of Health has adopted revised regulations which
require dogs, cats, and ferrets to be immunized against rabies; and
WHEREAS, City Council desires to comply with the regulations enacted by the Franklin
County Board of Health;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State
of Ohio, ~ of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. §91.27 (A) of the City of Dublin Codified Ordinances is amended to read:
No person shall own, keep, harbor or have charge of any dog, cat or ferret over three months
of age unless such dog, cat, or ferret shall have been immunized against rabies as required
by the regulations of the Franklin County Board of Health. Failure to have such dog, cat
or ferret immunized for rabies shall subject such dog, cat, or ferret to impoundment. Failure
to display a current rabies immunization tag on a dog's collar, harness, leash or similar
device and/or to present without delay an immunization certificate for such dog, cat, or
ferret upon demand shall be prima-facie evidence of lack of rabies immunization.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from the earliest period allowed
by law.
