AN ORDINANCE REQUESTING APPROVAL TO
CHANGE THE NAME OF SWEENY BOULEVARD
........ TO SWEENY COURT IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO

, WHEREAS, the property owners are desirous that the name of

Sweeny Boulevard be changed to Sweeny Court; and
WHEREAS, all affected property owners have submitted a
petition in favor of the proposed name change; and
WHEREAS, the petition was reviewed and agreed to by the Public
Service Committee at its meeting on February 23, 1994.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the city of
DUblin, State of Ohio, -1- of the elected members concurring:
section 1. That the name of Sweeny Boulevard is hereby
changed to Sweeny Court.
section 2. That the City Engineer be, and hereby is, directed
to have the plat corrected to conform to this change.
section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.

SUBJECT: Sweeney Boulevard

Sweeney Boulevard is a short, dead-end street which, according to
the abutting property owners, has attracted through traffic by
virtue of its "boulevard" designation. The existing "no outlet"
sign seems to be ineffective. The property owners have requested
a change in name from Sweeney Boulevard to Sweeney Court.
This information was reviewed favorably by the Service Committee at
its last meeting. I find it as a reasonable request and recommend
approval. Attached is a copy of a petition requesting the same.

Dear Mr. Kindra,
Thank you for your courtesy on the telephone last week. As I
said, my wife and I live at the corner of Sweeny Boulevard
which is a very short street ending at Stonefield Park.
Vehicles occasionally turn onto Sweeny only to have to go
back even though a "No Outlet" sign is posted. We believe
they are confused because Boulevards are usually through
streets.
We propose, therefore, the name of the street be changed from
Sweeny Boulevard to Sweeny Court to indicate the street is a
cul-de-sac. Also, at such time the street name is changed we
recommend removal of the "No Outlet" sign since it has been
ineffective and is an eye-sore. Please contact me at either
