AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 55-90 -
REGULATING STREET NAME SIGNAGE IN THE CITY OF
DUBLIN
__ WHEREAS, the Public Service Committee developed a series of
recommendations regulating street name signage in the City of Dublin;
and

WHEREAS, Dublin City Council adopted those recommendations in Ordinance
No. 192-89 and provided for additional requirements in Ordinance No.
55-90; and
WHEREAS, the Public Service Committee has subsequently determined that
certain provisions of this legislation need to be changed:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, ~ of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. Standard street name signage within the City of Dublin
shall conform to the following requirements:
(a) All signs to be brown with reflective white letters mounted on
brown four-sided breakaway posts.
(b) Signage for residential streets shall be 9" by 36" in size.
Signage for main streets shall be 12" by 48".
(c) All new developments must include the standard street name
signage and such signage shall be in place prior to final
acceptance of the development by the City. The developer shall
be responsible for the initial installation of street name
signage, and, after final acceptance, the City is responsible for
street name signage maintenance and replacement.
~ Section 2. Existing non-standard or distinctive signage shall conform
to the following:
... (a) Non-Standard or distinctive signage within a subdivision which
has been previously approved as part of a Planned Unit
Development, may be retained so long as reflective lettering is
utilized thereon.
(b) Non-Standard or distinctive siqnaqe within a subdivision which
has been previously accepted by the City, may be retained if
formal action has been taken by the appropriate homeowner's
association and a written reQUest is filed with the City Manaqer,
or his desiqnee. Any such reQUest must be filed within sixty
(60) days of the effective date of this Ordinance and must
stipulate that reflective letterinq will be utilized on any non-
standard or distinctive siqnaqe.
(c) When the need arises to replace an existing non-standard or
distinctive sign, the replacement signage must have reflective
letters and the post must be of a breakaway type, as approved by
the City Manaqer. or his desiqnee.
(d) As to areas located within the control of a civic or neighborhood
association, said association shall be required to purchase and
obtain conforming signage. Such signage shall either be
installed by the association in a manner approved by the City
Manaqer. or his desiqnee, or, if the association requests, by the
City. The City shall charge the Civic or neighborhood
association a fee for installation of sign posts not to exceed
... $75.00 per post per installation.

Section 3. When a subdivision requests that the city remove non-
.... standard or distinctive signage and/or post, and install standard
signage, no fee shall be assessed for said removal and replacement of
those signs. However, the city Manaaer, or his desianee. shall
determine, based upon budgetary concerns, the timing of such removal
and replacement. Any distinctive signage and/or posts removed by the
city shall become the property of the city.
section 4. The Citv Manaaer mav reauest that non standard or
distinctive sianaae be utilized within a specific area of the Citv.
Such a reauest is sub;ect to approval bv formal action of Citv Council,
taken bv ordinance or motion.
section 5. All signage within the city of Dublin shall be brought into
conformance with the terms and provisions set forth herein within
twelve (12 ) months from the effective date of this ordinance, except
that non-standard signage within the City shall be modified to include
reflective paint within twelve (12 ) months of the effective date of
this Ordinance.
Section 6. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after the earliest period allowed by law.
