'< - M E M 0 RAN DUM TO: Members of Dublin City Council FROM: Timothy C. Hansley, City Manager ~ SUBJECT: Salt Bids DATE: September 8, 1992 INITIATED BY: David L. Harding, Director of Personnel & Purchasing Attached for your consideration please find Ordinance No. 104-92 accepting the lowest and best bid for road salt for the time period covering November 1, 1992 through March 31, 1993. Also attached for your consideration is the bid tabulation form. Bids were requested based upon an estimated quantity of 4,000 tons for the above specified contract period, as was the case the past two years. As reflected in the attached bid tabulation, the City received bids from the following vendors: · Morton International, Inc. · cargill, Inc. · North American Salt Company · AKZO Salt, Inc. As noted in the bid tabulation, the bid submitted by Morton International, Inc. in the amount of $32.54/ton is the lowest and best bid. Therefore, it is staff's recommendation that said bid be accepted. (For reference purposes it should be noted that Morton fIJ!fI!F''''''''' International is the same company which has provided salt to the City during the winter of 1990-91 and 1991-92.) (In addition, it ........ should also be noted that Morton's 1992-93 bid price of $32.54/ton is less than their bid price of $32.75/ton for the 1991-92 contract period. ) TCH/DLH/mc ~
