AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 305.04 (j) AND
311.03 OF THE DUBLIB CODIFIED ORDINANCES TO
ELIMINATE REFERENCES TO QUIET ZOBES AND PLAY STREETS

WHEREAS, the City Manager is empowered to establish zones of
- quiet and play streets under section 305.04(j) (Powers of the
Manager) of the Traffic Code of the Dublin Codified Ordinances
I and toy vehicles are permitted on streets which have been set
aside as play streets under section 311.03 (Toy Vehicles on
Streets) of the Traffic Code of the Dublin Codified
Ordinances; and
WHEREAS, Code references to quiet zones are outdated as modern
heating and ventilation systems have eliminated the need for
quiet zones in areas adjacent to hospitals; and
WHEREAS, there are no existing public streets designated as
play streets within the City of Dublin; and
WHEREAS, the Public Services Committee of Dublin City Council
has determined that the designation of a public street as a
"play street" may result in unsafe conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINE~~ the Council of the City of
Dublin, State of Ohio, of the elected members
concurr1ng:
..... Section 1. That the language "zones of quiet and play
streets" is hereby deleted from section 305.04(j) (Powers of
-- the Manager) of the Traffic Code of the Codified Ordinances.
section 2. That the language "except on streets set aside as
play streets" is hereby deleted from section 311.03 of the
Dublin Codified Ordinances.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
