AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS
"".... ORDINANCE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1996
AND DECLARING AN .. EMERGENCY
.....
WHEREAS, Section 5705.40 of the Ohio Revised Code allows for supplemental
appropriations to be made to an appropriation measure provided sufficient resources
are available, and
WHEREAS, Burgess & Niple, Ltd. is currently under contract with the City of
Columbus (on behalf of the State of Ohio) to perform design services for the portion
of the 1-270 widening located in Dublin Ohio; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin has determined that the character, design, materials
and appearance of this bridge and the future Emerald Parkway bridge will have a
critical impact upon the aesthetic and scenic quality of the Scioto River Valley
through Dublin; and
WHEREAS, The City of Dublin has been advised that, for a fee of $40,000 Burgess
& Niple, Ltd. can amend its design contract with the City of Columbus and perform
a design study which will evaluate the scenic and aesthetic impacts of various bridge
designs and material options for these bridges, without any impact on the currently
established time frame for this critical highway improvement; and
,...."' WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the annual appropriation ordinance to provide
__ funding for the additional cost associated with the design study.
NOW, THE~ORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of City of Dublin, State
of Ohio, of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That there be appropriated from the unappropriated balance in the Capital
Improvements Tax: Fund the amount of $40,000 to account 40-03-14-2550 for the
design study to evaluate the scenic and aesthetic impacts of various bridge designs and
material options for the 1-270 bridge that will be reconstructed and the future Emerald
Parkway bridge.
Section 2. This Ordinance is declared to be an emergency because the needed design
work provided for herein must be carried out without impacting the time frame for
the critical widening of 1-270 and is therefore necessary to provide for the public
health, safety and welfare of this City, and therefore shall take effect upon passage.
