AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE LOWEST AND BEST BID FOR THE
DUBLINSHIRE GREENWAY PROJECT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
r- WHEREAS, after advertising and receiving bids on July 30, 1996 for the Dublinshire
1 Greenway project, Council has determined that the base bid submitted by Strawser Paving
... Co., Inc. In the amount of $104,300.00 is the lowest and best bid for this project.
NOW ~RE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of
Ohio, elected members concurring:
Section 1. That the base bid submitted by Strawser Paving Co. in the amount of $104,300.00
for the Dublinshire Greenway project, an approved 1996 CIP project consisting of a
playground, landscaping and bikepath along the Bear Run Stream, is hereby accepted.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Strawser
Paving Co., Inc. for completion of this project as specified within the bidder's bid proposal
and the City's bid documents on file in the Division of Grounds and Facilities.
Section 3. That this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary to ensure
the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Dublin, and for the further reason
that the project should be initiated as soon as possible to ensure completion during this
construction season. The ordinance shall therefore take effect and be in force immediately
upon passage.

On Tuesday, July 30, 1996 bids were opened on Dublinshire Greenway, an approved 1996
CIP, at 10:00 a.m. The project consists of a playground, landscaping and bikepath along the Bear
Run Stream.
The base bid was estimated at $104,000.00. Two bids were received:
1). McDaniel's Construction Corp. at $104,350.00.
2). Strawser Paving Co., Inc. at $104,300.00.
.... Strawser Paving Co., Inc. has been under contract with the City before, most recently on the
\ construction of the 5800 Building Parking Lot Improvement. Their work has been most
- satisfactory .
Staff is recommending acceptance of Strawser Paving Co., Inc.' s base bid.
Staff is also recommending this be passed as an emergency to assure both completion of the
project this year and to protect the material pricing. This is based on only one Council meeting in
August.
