MEMORANDUM TO: All Members of Dublin City Council FROM. Ti1nothy C. Hansley, ~ ~I" INITIATED BY: Dana L. McDaniel, Assistant Service Dir tor DATE: August 1, 1995 SUBJECT: Ordinance 79-95, Janitorial Services .- I recommend the approval of Ordinance 79-95, permitting the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Master Maintenance for \ janitorial services. Because I miscalculated the number of Council - meetings to be held in July, I will need for the thirty day waiting period to be waived on the third reading in order to implement this contract by October 1. Funds are currently available through the end of 1995. The total amount of this service will be $60,665.88 for general cleaning and $2,906 for window and blind cleaning over a one year period commencing October 1. The total cost for cleaning over the next 12 months will total $63,572. On a year to year comparison, we will experience a net decrease of $8,358 from the current cost of $71,930 to $63,572. The bid process for this service was sufficiently competitive. The results of bids submitted are attached (Bid Tabulation Form). Master Maintenance, the obvious low bidder, is a company with good credentials and experience. I have met at length with them and feel comfortable that they will meet the intent of the specifications. As an added note, Mr. John Hoge, Owner, is a Dublin resident. You may recall that the City privatized the janitorial services for ,... all City facilities in 1993. The City continues to save dollars by privatizing this effort despite the number of additional ...... facilities. We will continue to analyze the benefits of this each year. It is our intent to seek the same private services for the Community Recreation Center to augment staff cleaning. Should you have any questions, you can reach Dana at w: 761-6570 or h: 228-6502.
