AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A BID
FOR THE
TRAFFIC SIGNAL FOR AVERY-MUIRFIELD DRIVE
AT S.R. 161 RAMP INTERSECTION
WHEREAS, bids have been received for the Traffic Signal for Avery-Muirfield Drive at
S.R. 161 Pump Intersection; and
WHEREAS, the lowest/best bid is from Jess Howard Electric Company, in the amount of
$89,994.00; and
WHEREAS, the Dublin traffic study has determined an urgent need of signalizing the south
ramp and modifying the north ramp traffic signal as short-term improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin has completed design and has budgeted for construction of
these improvements; and
WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Transportation has issued a permit to the City of
Dublin for these improvements.
NOW TI~rEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of
Ohio, ~_ of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That the bid of $89,994.00 from Jess Howard Electric Company
be, and hereby is, accepted.
Section 2. That the City Manager and Finance Director, be, and hereby
are, authorized to enter into a contract with said firm for Traffic Signal for Avery-Muirfield
Drive at S.R. 161 Ramp Intersection..
Section 3. That this Ordinance be, and the same hereby is, declared to be an emergency
measure in order to allow for safe and efficient movement of traffic, and for the further
reason that this project should be initiated as soon as possible, and, therefore, this Ordinance
shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage.

On January 28,1997 two (2) bids were received and publicly opened and read for the subj ect prof ect
The bids were received as shown on the attached bid form. It is recommended that Jess Howard
Electric Company, the lowest/best bidder, be awarded this project.
This project is part of the short-range improvements recommended by the City's consultant in
connection with the Interchange Modification Study for SR161/33 and Avery-Muirfield Drive. The
design work has been completed and permit has been obtained from the Ohio Department of
Transportation. Money is available for construction in the current budget.
Attached is Ordinance No. 06-97, for approval as soon as possible, by City Council prior to the
award of this contract to Jess Howard Electric Company.
