Form No. 2806-A Ordinance No. ---()()~~~---------- Passed_______ .___,....__________________________________19____ -- AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING CERTAIN ITEMS OF COMPENSATION RELATIVE TO THE APPOINTMENT OF THE NEW CHIEF OF POLICE, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER AND FINANCE DIRECTOR TO APPROVE THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FOR SAID ITEMS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Council believes that certain items of compensation, associated with the appointment of the new Chief of Police, should be provided by the City of Dublin; and WHEREAS, it is necessary for such items of compensation to be authorized by ordinance of Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of Ohio, 7 of the elected members concurring: Section 1. That the following items of compensation are hereby authorized: A. Temporary Housing Allowance The City shall provide a temporary housing allowance not to excee $500 per month. The duration of this temporary housing allowance shall last a maximum of three months unless there are extenuating circumstances which necessitate the extension of this allowace, in which case, the City Manager may entertain a request for, and grant approval of, an extension of said allowance. B. Moving Allowance The City shall provide a moving allowance equal to one month of salary to compensate for the cost of relocation to the Dublin area. C. City Vehicle The City shall provide an unmarked vehicle, with City plates, for business and personal use. This vehicle shall be equipped with a radio and the personal usage of said vehicle shall remain within the bounds of sound reasoning and good judgment. D. Annual Uniform, Clothing, and Equipment Allowance The City shall provide an annual uniform, clothing, and equipment allowance in an amount equal to that received by the other uni- formed and non-uniformed Officers within the Division of Police. This allowance shall be paid in a lump sum once per year. The first payment shall be made upon appointment and each subsequent annual payment shall be made on the anniversary date of appoint- ment. This annual allowance shall be used for the purchase of necessary uniforms, clothing, and equipment, as required by City regulations, policies, codes, or administrative orders, and as required to function as the Chief of Police. Section 2. That the City Manager and Finance Director be, and hereby are, authorized and directed to approve the expenditure of funds for the afore- mentioned items. Section 3. That this Ordinance be, and hereby is, declared to be an emergency measure for the reason that expenditures for the aforementioned items need to be approved as soon as possible and, therefore, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage. Harding, Personnel Director ~ SUBJECT: Ordinance No. 66-88 DATE: June 16, 1988 Attached please find Ordinance No. 66-88 authorizing certain items of compensa- tion relative to the appointment of the new Chief of Police and directing the City Manager and Finance Director to approve the expenditure of funds for said items. As described in the attached Ordinance, these items include: - Temporary Housing Allowance - Moving Allowance - City Vehicle - Annual Uniform, Clothing, and Equipment Allowance Please note that Ordinance No. 66-88 also contains emergency language.
