I Ordinances of the City of Dublin are hereby adopted for the purpose of I the practical safeguarding of persons, buildings, and dwellings and their comments from hazards arising from the use of electricity for light, heat, power, radio, signaling and for other purposes as ! recommended by the National Fire Association except for such portions asl have been amended, modified, or deleted previously by the City of Dublin and are part of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Dublin, I Section 1349. . Section 2. That a complete copy of the National Electrical Code, 1990, as adopted herein, is on file with the City Engineer. 1hat this Ordinance shall go into effect on January 1, I Section 3. 1990. Section 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage. CROSS REFERENCES Adoption of technical codes - see CHTR. 4. 12 Power to license electricians - see Ohio R.C. 715.27 1349.01 CODE AOOPTED. - There is hereby adopted for the purpose of the practical safeguarding of persons, buildings and dwellings and their contents from hazards arising from the use of electricity for light, heat, power, radio, signaling and for other purposes, that certain code known as the National Electrical Code, being particularly the 1987 edition thereof, recommended by the National Fire Association, except for such portions as are herein modified, amended or deleted. j (Ord. 02-87. Passed 1-5-87.) I 1349.02 AMENDMENTS, DELETIONS, ADDITIONS. (a) The National Electrical Code, 1987 Edition, is hereby amended to permit metallic cable (type n/m), as a wiring method and such use is restricted to one, tWo and three-family dwelling structures. (b) The following shall be additional requirements for buildings in the Municipality and are hereby adopted: (1) E.M.T. for branch circuit wiring on all new commercial buildings. Fixture tails will be permitted to be ACTHH or AC90 with a maximum length of six feet. (2) Any addition, modification or change made to an existing commercial building must use E.M. T., ACTHH, or AC90. (3) Surface raceways shall be permitted when installed in accordance with the N.E.C. (4) In residential dwelling units the load side of the meter to the line side of the panel shall be installed in a raceway, i.e., PVC conduit. (5) The minimum service for a new single family dwelling unit shall be 200 AMPS. (6) In the kitchen area there shall be a separate circuit for the refrigerator. (7) Circuits for kitchen counter outlets shall be alternately spaced so that no two adjacent outlets are on the same circuit. (8) Whenever any electrical wiring or any other electrical equipment shall have been inspected and approved, it shall thereafter be ! unlawful for any person to change, damage or interfere with the I . same without the authority of the Electrical Inspector. -- (9) Multi-family dwelling units shall have a separate permit for each meter.
