WHEREAS, it is necessary to update the Electrical Code to the latest available edition, and; WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 19-86 requires amendments, and Council is of the opinion that amendments are necessary; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Dublin, State of Ohio, 6 of the elected members concurring: SECTION !. That Ordinance No. 19-86 is hereby amended to include adoption of the 1987 Edition of the National Electrical Code as recommended by the National Fire Association and a complete copy of said Code is on file in the Office of the Village Engineer. SECTION 2. The following shall be additional requirements for buildings in the Village of Dublin and are hereby adopted: a. E.M.T. for branch circuit wiring on all new commercial buildings. Fixture tails will be permitted to be ACTHH or AC90 with a maximum length of 6'. b. Any addition, modification, or change made to an existing commercial building must use E.M.T., ACTHH, or AC90. c. Surface raceways shall be permitted when installed in accordance with the N.E.C. d. In residential dwelling units the load side of the meter to the line side of the panel shall be installed in a raceway, i.e., PVC condui to e. The minimum service for a new single family dwelling unit shall be 200 AMPS. f. In the kitchen area there shall be a separate circuit for the refrigerator. g. Circuits for kitchen counter outlets shall be alternately spaced so that no two adjacent outlets are on the same circuit. h. Whenever any electrical wiring or any other electrical equipment shall have been inspected and approved, it shall thereafter be un- lawful for any person to change, damage or interfere with the same without the authority of the Electrical Inspector. i. Multi-family dwelling units shall have a separate permit for each meter. SECTION 3. In the event of any conflict between the requirements of the National Electric Code and those of any other Codes adopted by the municipality, or any municipal ordinance, that requirement which estab- lishes the higher or stricter standard shall prevail. SECTION 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare and for the further reason to safeguard persons, buildings and dwellings and their contents from hazards arising from the use of electricity and, therefore, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage. ,.. Mr. Zombek has agreed to be present at the January 5 , 1987 council meeting to discuss the recommended changes or revisions.
