THE PROJECT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, pursuant to required advertising, bids have been received for Muirfield Drive Improvements and; WHEREAS, Ordinance No: 31-86 requires that Council approve bids and appro- priations prior to a project commencing, and; WHEREAS, Council has determined that the bid of Nickolas M, Savko & Sons, Inc. for said improvements, in the amount of $232,663.00, is the lowest/best bid. BOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Dublin, State of Ohio, 7 of the elected members concurring: SECTION 1. That the bid of Nickolas M. Savko & Sons, Inc. for said improve- ments in accordance with specifications on file in the office of the Engineer be, and hereby is accepted. SECTION 2. That the Village Manager and Finance Director be, and they here- by are, authorized and directed to execute a contract with the said Nickolas M. Savko & Sons, Inc. for said improvements. SECTION 3. That there be appropriated from the unnappropriated funds in the General Fund to account AOI-06-6A-2550 the sum of $232,663.00 to meet the obligations of the contract for said improvements. SECTION 4. On Wednesday, November 19, 1986 at II : 00 A.M. I opened bids on the above referenced project. The bids received were as follows: l. Nickolas M. Savko & Sons, Inc. $232,663.00 2 . Jack Conie & Sons 253,944.l5 3 . Decker construction 276,637.95 4. McMillen Paving & Sealing 277,456.00 5 . Strawser Paving 293,945.00 The Engineer's estimate of cost was $225,000,00, There was only one bidder within the ten percent requirement and that is the low bidder, The low bidder is only 3 percent over the Engineer's estimate. The second low bidder is 13 percent over the Engineer's estimate. Therefore, I recommend the award be made to Nicholas M. Savko & Sons, Inc. being the lowest and best bid at $232,663.00.
