WHEREAS, the need exists to create the Job Classification of Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor to provide assistance in the Parks and Recreation Department; and, WHEREAS, Council is of the opinion that said position is necessary for the effective operation of the Village; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Dublin, State of Ohio, 7 of the elected members concurring: Section 1. That there is hereby created the classification of Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor in the Village of Dublin, Ohio. Section 2. That the Village Manager is hereby authorized to investigate and approve applicants for said position per Section 5.04(B)(1) of the Dublin Village Charter. Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law. This position will provide necessary assistance to the Parks and Recreation Director in a variety of operations. \ &J~~~~~I 6665 Coffman Road Dublin. Ohio 43017 RECREATION COORDINATOR/SUPERVISOR General Description of Position and Duties Under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Director, assists in the administra- tion of organized recreational program activities for all ages on a year round basis with specific emphasis of Summer Youth Program activities. Supervises Summer Day Camp and Summer Playground Operations. Assists in Administration of special events and services when necessary. Examples of Work (Illustrative Only) * Organizes, schedules and monitors Adult Instructional activities (e.g., Antiquing, . Painting, Photography, Dancing, Aerobics,CPR, Tennis,Golf); Adult Sports activities (e.g., Co-Recreational Volleyball and Softball, Men's Basketball, Men's Softball); Youth Recreational activities and instructional classes (e.g. , Dramatics, Arts and Crafts, Babysitting, Martial Arts, Hunting, Golf, Tennis, Swimming) ; and Senior Citizen activities (e.g., Golden Gatherings luncheons, travel tours, picnics). * Organizes and schedules Summer Playground activities. Supervises Summer Playground leaders over a seven (7) week period of time and ensures efficient operations at playgrounds. * Organizes and schedules Summer Day Camps (e.g., Arts Day Camp, Explorers Day Camp) . Supervises Summer Day Camp counselors and ensures efficient operations at playgrounds. * Maintains sports equipment inventory and other general equipment & supplies and advises Director when replacement of equipment is necessary. * Prepares recreational program materials and writes news releases when necessary. * Performs routine office functions when necessary (i.e., answering phone, scheduling facility requests, programs participant registration). * Conducts participant and instructor evaluations regarding program effectiveness. I Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * General knowledge of recreation administration. * Good written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to execute the Department's plan for developing a comprehensive recreation program. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with seasonal recreational staff. * Ability to exercise good judgment and sound reasoning. * Ability to apply knowledge of recreation field to solve practical, everyday problems. Required Education/Experience * Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration, or related field and three (3) years administrative experience in the field of recreation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. NOTE: THE NATURE OF THIS POSITION REQUIRES INCUMBENT TO WORK FLEXIBLE HOURS - INCLUDING WEEKENDS IF NECESSARY.
