AN ORDINANCE CREATING A NEW
JOB CLASSIFICATION IN THE
PLANNING DEPARTMENT AND
AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE
MANAGER TO FILL SAID POSI-
TION IN ACCORDANCE WITH
SECTION 5.04(B)(1) OF THE
VILLAGE CHARTER.
WHEREAS, the need exists to create the Job Classification of PLANNER
(Architecture and Landscape Design) to provide assistance in the
Planning Department; and,
WHEREAS, Council is of the opinion that said position is necessary for
the effective operation of the Village;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Dublin,
State of Ohio, 7 of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That there is hereby created the classification of PLANNER
(Architecture and Landscape Design) in the Village of Dublin, Ohio.
Section 2. That the Village Manager is hereby authorized to investigate
and approve applicants for said position per Section 5.04(B)(1) of the
Dublin Village Charter.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after the earliest period allowed by law.

Attached please find the job description and ordinance requesting the creation
of a PLANNER job classification within the Planning Department. This position
will provide necessary assistance to the Planning Director in a variety of
operations.

PLANNER (ARCHITECTURE & LANDSCAPE DESIGN)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION AND DUTIES
I
Under the direction of the Planning Director, this position is
responsible for: Planning, design, and implementation of
architectural and landscape design plans; evaluation of
specific site and area infrastructure needs; and working with
architects, engineers, developers, and planners in portraying
their proposals/concepts in the form of urban design plans
. displaying the relationships between sites and development
objectives.
Exalaples of Work (Illustrative Only)
* Reviews plans submitted by land developers for the con-
struction of parking lots, shopping centers, subdivisions,
industrial parks, and proposals for public facilities such
as playgrounds and school sites for conformance to estab-
lished zoning and landscape requirements.
* Negotiates urban design matters with developers.
* Functions as a technical resource to Village and private
committees which influence urban design decision making.
* Prepares sketches or renderings for public presentations.
* Develops conceptual urban design plans which illustrate
strategic plans.
Required Knowledges, Ski.11s and Abilities
* Comprehensive knowledge in the areas of design, architect-
ural review, and landscape architecture.
* Ability to portray, through graphic talents, accurate urban
design schemes which reflects a written development strategy
and in appealing to the viewer.
* General knowledge of land development regulations.
* Ability to establish, develop, and maintain a professional,
effective working relationship with developers.
* Ability to communicate in a professional, tactful manner and
to resolve conflict situations.
Required Education/Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Urban Design, Architecture, or
Landscape Architecture and would prefer three (3) to five
(5) years related experience.
