COls,. 0, ~ Form No, 2806-A Ordinance NO.n 141-87 Passed -- --------- ----- _19n AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING NEW REGULATIONS FOR THE COLLECTION OF COMMERCIAL BUILD- ING CODE FEES THEREOF: REPEALING CHAPTER 13, SECTIONS 1333.02-1333.08 AND 1333.18 OF ORDINANCE NO. 76-80 OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of Ohio, 7 of the elected members concurring: Section 1. That the following Building Code Fee Schedule for commercial -- buildings be adopted by the City of Dublin. 1333.01 FEES REQUIRED (a) Any person desiring to do or cause to be done any work for which a permit is required by the Building Code, shall at the time the permit is issued therefore pay a fee in the amount fixed by this chapter. (b) When work for which a permit is required by the Building Code is started prior to obtaining such permit, the fees may be doubled, as required by the Chief Building Official (C.B.O.) but the payment of such double fee shall not relieve any persons from fully complying with the requirements of the Building Code in the execution of the work nor from any other penalties prescribed. However, this double fee shall not apply to any emergency or urgently necessary work if a permit for such work is obtained as provided for. 1333.02 PLANS EXAMINATION FEES Plans examination fees shall be assessed according to the following schedule: (a) Additions and alterations to existing apartment buildings not over two stories high, and associated garages and accessory buildings - $10.00 per building. (b) New buildings and any additions and alterations to existing buildings - $10.00 up through the first 1,000 square feet of area, plus $1.00 for each additional 100 square feet or fraction thereof. 1333.03 NEW BUILDING AND ADDITIONS PERMIT FEES (a) Building permits for new buildings and additions to existing buildings shall be issued to include only the work shown on the approved plans or specifications. (b) Building permit fees for new buildings and additions to exist- I ing buildings shall be based on floor or surface area to be computed as follows: I (1) All floors or surfaces including garage, carport, base- ment, cellar and subcellar floors, measuring the side dimensions at each floor level. I (2) Crawl spaces and attic areas shall not be included. I (3 ) In buildings or areas where there are no walls, the area I enclosed by the outside dimensions of the supporting columns shall be included. I (4) In buildings or areas where a roof is supported by a I single row of columns the horizontal projected area of I the roof shall be included. II (c) Based on the computation of the floor or surface area the building permit fees for new buildings and additions to II existing buildings shall be assessed according to the follow- II ing schedule: II II II I . (2) All other buildings: $100.00 plus $3.00 for each 100 square feet of area, or fraction thereof; the maximum fee is $20,000.00 per building. (3) Parking lots or similar facilities for which separate permits are required because the lots or facilities are not constructed at the same time as, and under the permits originally issued for, the building associated with them. $50.00 per lot or facility. 1333.04 ALTERATIONS PERMIT FEE (a) Building permits for alterations of existing, multi-story buildings shall require a separate permit for each floor, except that all floors occupied by a single tenant shall require only one permit. (b) Building permits for alterations of existing buildings shall be issued to include only the work shown on the approved plans or specifications. (c) Building permit fees for alterations shall be assessed accord- ing to the square feet of remodeled area as follows: 9 through 1000 1 55.00 1,001 through 2,000 $ 70.00 2,001 through 3,000 $ 85.00 3,001 through 4,000 $100.00 4,001 through 5,000 $115.00 5,001 through 6,000 $130.00 6,001 through 7,000 $155.00 7,001 through 8,000 $180.00 8,001 through 9,000 $205.00 9,001 through 10,000 $230.00 Over 10,000 $255.00 plus $2.00 for each additional 100 square feet or portion thereof 1333.05 INDUSTRIAL UNITS PREFABRICATED ASSEMBLIES AND RELOCATED BUILDING PERMIT FEES Building permit fees for industrialized units, prefabricated assemblies and relocated buildings shall be assessed according to the following schedule: (a) Industrialized units approved by the Ohio Department of Industrial Relations: 50% of the fees required under Sections 1333.03, 1333.09, 1333.12. (b) Prefabricated assemblies: Same fees as required under Sections 1333.03, 1333.09, 1333.11 and 1333.12. (c) Relocated buildings: 40% of the fees required in Section 1333.03. 1333.06 REHABILITATION PERMIT FEES (a) Building permits for rehabilitation of existing buildings 'I shall be required whenever any of the following conditions apply: r RECORD OF ORDINANCES . . . (2) Only interior or exterior repair work, or both, is to be done, and the work is due to, and usually involving, one or more of the mechanical or electrical systems. (3 ) The work to be done shall be to restore the building exactly to its original design and shape, and shall involve only the removal and replacement in kind of structural or non-structural members, or both. damage bv factors including, but not limited to fire, storm, termites or vandalism. (b) Submission of a list of approved specifications indicating the work to be done shall be sufficient to obtain a building permit for rehabilitation. (c) If changed circumstances cause alteration of a building to be necessary or desirable after rehabilitation work has begun, a building permit for the alteration shall be required in additicn to the building permit for rehabilitation already issued. (d) Building permit fees for rehabilitation of existing building shall be assessed as follows, except that the permit fee for rehabilitation of any building condemned by the Division of Building Regulation shall not be less than fifty dollars ($50.00). 9 through 1,000 $35.00 1 ,001 through 2,000 $45.00 2,001 through 3,000 $55.00 3,001 through 4,000 $65.00 4,001 through 5,000 $75.00 5,001 through 6,000 $85.00 6,001 through 7,000 $105.00 7,001 through 8,000 $125.00 8,001 through 9,000 $145.00 9,001 through 10,000 $165.00 Over 10,000 $185.00 plus $1.00 for additic n- 100 square feet 1333.07 FEE FOR INSPECTION OF EXISTING BUILDINGS An inspection fee of seventy five dollars ($75.00) is required to inspect a building for the purpose of checking for compliance with or changing of the use group of, an existing building when no work is proposed which would otherwise require a building permit. However, this does not apply to one, two, or three-family dwellings. 1333.18 ELECTRICAL PERMIT FEES Electrical inspection fees shall have a minimum fee of $30.00. Section 2.
