AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION
717.07(a) OF CHAPTER 717 OF THE
DUBLIN CODIFIED ORDINANCES EN-
TITLED "PEDDLERS AND SOLICITORS,
BUSINESS HOURS RESTRICTED"
WHEREAS, Section 717.07(a) of the Dublin Codified Ordinances prohibits
peddlers, solicitors, market researchers and any other door-to-door
canvassing activities between 5:00 P.M. and 9:00 A.M. or on Sunday or
holidays; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Supreme Court has recently upheld a decision
which found similar time restrictions to unconstitutionally infringe upon
a canvassing organization's First Amendment rights;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State
of Ohio, 7 of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. Section 717.07(a) entitled, "Business Hours Restricted", is
hereby amended as follows:
(a) No person shall peddle, solicit or conduct
market research, door-to-door, at dwelling
houses or businesses at random, on sidewalks
or streets, at public places, at private
meeting places or in any other manner or
place in the Municipality between 9:00 P.M.
and 9:00 A.M. or on any Sunday or Holiday.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after
the earliest period allowed by law.
