AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE
NO. 07-82, THE FIRE AND LIFE
SAFETY ORDINANCE, BY ADDING
SECTION F-505.0 TO PROVIDE FOR
THE INSTALLATION OF KEY BOXES
AS MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE FIRE
OFFICIAL.
WHEREAS, the use of automatic fire and emergency medical alarm systems
may summon the emergency forces at times when a structure is not occupied
or at times when the occupant is not able to provide ingress for the
emergency forces and,
WHEREAS, it may be desirable to prevent damage through forceable entry or
provide swift entry by the emergency forces,
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Dublin, State
of Ohio, l of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 07-82 of the Village of Dublin, Ohio
passed February 15, 1982, be amended by adding Section F-505.0 to read
as follows:
Section 505.0 KEY BOX
F-505.1 Installation: When a property is protected by
automatic alarm system, and access to or within
a structure, or an area on that property, is
unduly difficult because of secured openings,
and where immediate access is necessary for Ii fe
saving or fire fighting purposes, the fire official
may require a key box to be installed in an
approved location. The key box shall be a type
approved by the fire official.
F-505.2 Contents: The key box shall 'contain:
a) keys to locked points of ingress whether
on the interior or exterior of such buildings.
b) keys to locked mechanical equipment rooms.
c) keys to locked electrical rooms.
d) keys to elevator controls.
e) keys to other areas as directed by the fire
official.
Said Section 505.0 shall not apply to any Residential units.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in effect from and after the earliest
period allowed by law.
