AN ORDINANCE TO ACCEPT THE LOWEST/BEST BID
FOR SALT FOR SNOW AND ICE CONTROL FOR THE
I WINTER 1983-1984; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, bids have been received for Salt for snow and ice control for the
Winter of 1983-1984, and:
WHEREAS, Council has determined that the bid of ~~
in the amount of $.16 .~ per ton is the lowest best bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Dublin, State
of Ohio, I of the elected members concurring:

SECTI ON 1. That the bid of ~ 'j~~, ~. in
accordance with speci fications presently on file in the office of the Manager
be, and hereby is, accepted.
SECTION 2. That the Village Manager and Finance Director be, and they hereby
are, authorized and directed to execute a Contract with said Company for the
purchase of Salt.
SECTI ON 3. That, this Ordinance be, and the same hereby is, declared to be an
emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health
and safety and for the further reason that acceptance of the bid must be
I acknowledged within fifteen (15) days to assUre this bid price thru March 31,
1984, therefore this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately
upon its passage.

SUBJECT: Re: Salt bids for Winter of 1983-84
The following bids were received for providing Salt to the Village:
Diamond Crystal Salt Company $32.11 per ton
Morton Salt Company $27.95 per ton
International Salt Company $27.65 per ton
Cargill Salt Company $26.95 per ton
Domtar Industries, Inc. $26.85 per ton
Since the price quoted is protected against any increase thru March 31, 1984,
we must acknowledge acceptance of a bid within fifteen (15) days and therefore
I respectfully request that Council suspend the three-time reading rule and
pass the Ordinance as an emergency.
'I I recommend that Council accept the bid of Domtar Industries, Inc. at $26.85
per ton.
No payments are made until Salt is ordered and delivery is made. The low bid
in 1982 was $28.04 per ton and, in 1981 it was $29.00 per ton.
