I AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUILDING CODE AND THE PROVISIONS
THEREOF GOVERNING THE INSTALLATION OF SMOKE AND HEAT
DETECTORS.
NOW, THEREfORE BE IT ordained by the Council of the Village of Dublin, Ohio,
to members concurring, that:
SECTION l. The Building Code be amended by adding the following:
Section BB;404-32. fire alarm equipment. An approved, automatic household
fire warning system shall be provided in all new 1, 2, and 3 Family Residential
dwelling units. One or more approved detectors shall be installed in the im-
mediate vicinity, but outside of, all sleeping roomsa The detectors shall be
clearly audible in all bedrooms when all intervening doors are closed. for
the purpose of installation and maintenance only, N.F.P.A. Standard #74 Chap-
ter 2 ;-;Sasi.€::._ requirements shall be considered accepted engineering practice.
SECTION 2. The current resident of the dwelling unit snaIl be responsible
for the main~enance and upkeep of all detectors.
SECTION 3. All smoke/heat detectors shall bear the approval of .an authorized
testing laboratory or organization such as: U.L. (Underwriters Laboratories),
I U.L.C. (Underwriters Laboratories of Canada), A.S. T.M. (American Society for
Testing and Materials), B.O.C.A. (Building Officials Code Administration),
and C.A.B.O. (Council of American Building Officials).
SECTION 4. Whoever violates any provision or section of this code shall be
fined not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). Each day of violation of
this section shall consitute a separate offense.
SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the
earliest period permitted by law.
