Grigsby, City Manager Date: June 28, 2012 Initiated by: Fred Hahn, Director of Parks & Open Space Re: Resolution 34 -12 - Kiwanis Rivenvay Park Trail Extension Project Background On Thursday June 14, 2012, bids were opened for the Kiwanis Riverway Park Trail Extension Project. Only one bid was received: Janco LLC Base Bid $105,439.00 The funds for this project were originally included in the 2011 CIP budget in the amount of $85,000, but due to design review and resulting required changes by the City of Columbus (property owner), the project was not able to be bid during that year. The project exceeds the original budget amount because of required design changes as well as increased needs in rehabilitating the existing path. The base bid estimate for this project was $131,000. When expenditures in the CIP Tax Fund are reviewed at year end, additional funding will be requested, if necessary, since funding was not carried over from 2011. This project will include all materials and labor necessary for the construction of new asphalt bike path, resurfacing of existing bike path, boardwalk construction, short footbridge installation, and all associated site work. Recommendation Staff recommends adoption of Resolution 34 -12, accepting Janco LLC's base bid of $105,439.00. Janco LLC has done work for the City of Dublin and staff has found their work to be most satisfactory.
