A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE
CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO, PARTI-
CIPATION IN THE QUINCENTENNIAL
CELEBRATION, COMMEMORATING
CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS' DISCOVERY
OF THE NEW WORLD
WHEREAS, The Christopher Columbus Qincentennial Jubilee Commission was
established on April 8, 1985, by the City of Columbus to commemorate
the SOOth anniversary of the voyages of Christopher Columbus; and
WHEREAS, in cooperation with Columbus and her neighbors, the City of
Dublin is pleased to participate in festivities honoring this great
explorer; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin will participate in a year of cultural, his-
torical, educational and recreational events recognizing our community's
rich ethnic heritage; and
WHEREAS, a Quincentennial Commission, comprised of broad-based community
representation, shall be established for a three (3) year period to plan
and execute community-wide programming in commemoration of this historic
event;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, 7 of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That the Council of the City of Dublin by virtue of our pride
in our heritage, do choose to commemorate and celebrate the SOOth
anniversary of Columbus' discovery.
Section 2. That the City of Dublin shall cooperate in the celebration of
the Qincentennial and shall establish a Quincentennial Commission to
plan and execute community-wide programming in correlation with the
Qincentennial theme.
Section 3. That the Council of the City of Dublin urges all citizens to
partake in this historic opportunity to learn about and recall the
achievements of our Founders, and to reflect on the shared history and
heritage of peoples of the Old and New Worlds.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
adoption.
