A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A REQUEST
TO OHIO BELL, GTE, AND THE PUBLIC UTILITIES
COMMISSION OF OHIO BY CERTAIN RESIDENTS OF
THE CITY OF DUBLIN, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the boundaries of the City of Dublin do not conform
with telephone company service area boundaries, resulting in
the provision of telephone service within the City of Dublin
by both Ohio Bell Telephone Services and GTE; and
WHEREAS, most residents of Greater Columbus served by Ohio
Bell incur toll charges to call the Affected Residents of the
City of Dublin; and
WHEREAS, certain residents of the city of Dublin ("Affected
Residents") whose telephone services are provided by GTE are
assigned a Plain City telephone exchange, and thus are not
listed in the telephone directory of the Greater Columbus
metropoli tan area as are other residents of the city of
Dublin, resulting in a hardship for those Affected Residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Dublin, State of Ohio, ~ of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That in the interests of uniform and non-
, discriminatory treatment of all residents of the City of
Dublin with respect to telecommunications services, we hereby
support the request of the Affected.Residents to Ohio Bell,
GTE, the Public utilities Commission of Ohio, and other
appropriate entities to provide for toll-free telephone access
from numbers in the Greater Columbus metropolitan area to all
phone numbers of Affected Residents in the City of Dublin.
section 2. That we hereby support the request of the Affected
Residents for inclusion in the printed and computerized
telephone directories of the Greater Columbus metropolitan
area.
section 3. That this Resolution be, and the same hereby is,
declared to be an emergency measure for the preservation of
the public peace, health and safety, and therefore, this
Resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon
its passage.
