A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO FILE
AN APPLICATION AND ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ACQUIRING FUNDS THROUGH THE DIVISION OF FORESTRY'S URBAN
FORESTRY MANAGEMENT GRANT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the quality of urban life is enhanced by the proper
management of the urban forest resource; and
WHEREAS, the city of Dublin recognizes the importance of
providing tree and shrub related benefits to its citizens; and
WHEREAS, funding for the maintenance and inventory of trees and
other urban vegetation is available through the Ohio Department
of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ~OLVED by Council of the City of
Dublin, state of Ohio, members concurring that:
section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for
and, if awarded, enter into agreement with the Department to
administer a grant to implement said program, and that the City
Manager is authorized to sign said agreement.
section 2. The City of Dublin hereby requests the Department
of Natural Resources, Di vision of Forestry, to consider and
fund its application project.
section 3. This Resolution be and the same hereby is declared
to be an emergency measure necessary for the public health,
safety and welfare, and for the further reason that the grant
deadline is June 9, 1995, and therefore the resolution shall
take effect and be in force immediately upon passage.

RE: Urban Forest Management Grant

The City of Dublin is seeking grant funds from the Ohio Department of Natural
Resources to update the street tree inventory. While the City has an ongoing computerized data
bank that provides basic information, it does not furnish detailed knowledge about the health and
viability of the street trees. This grant will yield statistics which will aid the forestry department
in determining cost saving maintenance decisions and practices.
The cost of the total grant comes to $13,440. Of this, the City is requesting $6,720 in
grant money from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The City's cost share match
consists of $6,720 to be spent towards wage and administrative costs to administer the program.
