A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING APRIL 17 THROUGH APRIL 22
EARTHWEEK IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO,
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, environmental awareness is critically important for
Dublin citizens of all ages; and
I. WHEREAS, the City strives to be a leader in environmental
awareness and sensitivity; and
WHEREAS, we are all learners interacting with others and the
environment in a lifelong process; and
WHEREAS, environmental awareness includes the appreciation and
wonder of the natural world, the understanding of the wise use
of the world's and Ohio's natural resources, and the
development of positive attitudes and skills required to
participate intelligently in environmental decision making;
and
WHEREAS, the city of Dublin, Dublin City Schools, Washington
Township, the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, Rumpke
Waste systems, and Ashland Chemical will be sponsoring
activities throughout Earthweek to increase the level of
environmental awareness and provide opportunities for citizens
to take action.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Dublin, State of Ohio, ~ of the elected members
concurring:
section 1. That April 17 through April 22, 1995 is hereby
designated Earthweek in Dublin. All citizens are urged to
observe this week by reviewing past accomplishments which have
been environmentally sensitive and take part in the many
planned activities that will occur during Earthweek.
section 2. That this Resolution be, and hereby is, declared
to be an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of
the public health, safety, and welfare and, therefore, this
Resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon
its passage.
