I
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin desires its facilities to be clean and professional in
appearance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin desires to continue its practice of privatizing janitorial
services; and
i WHEREAS, the City of Dublin has developed, advertised, and competitively bid said
; janitorial services; and
WHEREAS, said services were specified and bid in such a manner as to allow the
City to have more than one janitorial service provider for its facilities in order to
maximize competitiveness; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin has received and evaluated said bids and found all
bids to meet the intent of the specifications;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, -4-- members concurring that:
Section 1. The City Manger is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with
Master Maintenance for janitorial services for the Justice Center in the
amount of $0.0932 per square foot equaling $1,949.65 per month for
12 months.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with
Dust For You for janitorial services for the Community Recreation
Center in the amount of $0.2114 per square foot equaling $4,798.78
per month for 12 months and Alternate #1 providing day porter services
for the Community Recreation Center in the amount of $1,452.00 per
month for 12 months.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with
Master Maintenance for janitorial services for the Municipal Building,
"5800 Building," and Maintenance/Service Complex in the amount of
$0.0787 per square foot equaling $2,897.82 per month for 12 months
and Alternate #1 providing day porter services for the Municipal
Building, "5800 Building," and Maintenance/Service Complex in the
amount of $761.00 per month for 12 months.

RE: 1997 Janitorial Contracts

On Friday December 7, 1996, bids were opened for the 1997 Janitorial Services for the City of
Dublin. This year we decided to require three separate bids: one for the community Recreation
Center, one for the Justice Center and the third for the 5800 Building, Service Complex and the
Municipal Building.
The purpose of requiring three separate bids were to foster greater competition, and to have
contracts that more accurately reflect the buildings needs.
I have attached the bid tabulation sheets that reflect the outcome of the bids. Based on these
outcomes, staff is recommending the following bids be accepted.

Justice Center Master Maintenance $1,949.65/month

In addition to the base bids, it is also staffs recommendation to accept the following bid alternates
that reflect day porter service.

Municipal Building Master Maintenance $761.00/month
Staff feels that these prices are fair and the proposed level of service complete. The prices are
also in line with the figures represented in the 1997 Operating Budget. Staff is recommending that
the bids as reflected in this report be accepted.
Staff is proposing this as a Resolution based upon the criteria of expense and durability/length.
In this particular case, janitorial services are expensive ($142,310.89); however, the term of the
service is for only one year. Based on this assessment staff believes a Resolution is appropriate.
