Company for said material constitute the lowest and best bid, in the amount of$37.28/ton
II (white salt) and $37.38/ton (blue salt);

I Section 1. That the bid submitted by the North American Salt Company for the above
referenced material, in the amount of$37.28/ton (white salt) and $37.38/ton (blue salt), is

Attached for your consideration please find Ordinance No. 93-96 accepting the lowest and best bid for rock salt.
Also, attached for your review is a copy of the bid tabulation.
Bids were requested based upon an estimated quantity of 8,000 tons, which is consistent with the estimated
quantity used in 1995. As reflected in the attached bid tabulation, the City received bids from the following
suppliers:
· North American Salt Company
· Morton International Inc.
· Cargill, Inc.
· Akzo Nobel Salt Inc.
As noted in the bid tabulation, the bid submitted by North American Salt Company of $37 .28/ton for white rock
salt is the lowest and best bid North American's bid complies fully with the City's specifications and is therefore
responsive to the City's needs. In Staff's judgement, the bid submitted by North American is not only the lowest
bid but also the best bid; therefore, Staff recommends that North American's bid be accepted.
Please note that, although it was not a requirement of the bid specifications, North American Salt Company
quoted an alternate bid in the amount of$37.38/ton for blue rock salt. Since both the white and the blue rock salt
meet the requirements of the bid specifications, this alternate bid provides the City of Dublin an option to
purchase either type of rock salt as needed.
