Ii A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE
I DARBY PRAIRIE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
WHEREAS, the Darby Prairie National Wildlife Refuge (DPNWR) is an important
conservation tool for the Darby Creek watershed, which includes the Big Darby Creek, a
State and National Scenic River; and
WHEREAS, the DPNWR will enhance the aesthetic nature of Central Ohio by restoring
native oak, savannah, prairie, and wetland ecosystems, and will provide habitat for many
rare, threatened, and endangered plants and animals; and
WHEREAS, a stated goal ofDPNWR by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service is to
respect agricultural interests, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service intends to purchase land
with federal dollars from willing sellers only; and
WHEREAS, the DPNWR will enhance the quality of life for residents of Dublin by
providing opportunities to experience wilderness and outdoor recreation and will benefit
future generations.
NOW, Tt;EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of
Ohio, of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. The City of Dublin does hereby endorse and support the establishment ofthe
Darby Prairie National Wildlife Refuge.
Section 2. This resolution is effective upon passage in accordance with Section 4.04(a)
of the Revised Charter.
