A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN
ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE
"NO ON STATE CONTROL
OF PROPERTY RIGHTS" COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 5 was approved by the Ohio Legislature and signed by
Governor Robert Taft;
WHEREAS, the Dublin City Council has expressed its concern over and
opposition to provisions contained in the new legislation;
WHEREAS, a proposed referendum of this legislation has been organized by the
"NO ON STATE CONTROL OF PROPERTY RIGHTS" Committee, and Dublin
City Council has previously supported the proposed referendum of Senate Bill 5;
and
WHEREAS, the Committee has successfully obtained a stay on the Ohio
Secretary of State's determination on the sufficiency of referendum petitions to
allow several other court rulings on specific challenges of sufficiency to be
completed; and
WHEREAS, the Committee is requesting additional funding to accommodate
efforts to secure 63,000 additional signatures on supplemental petitions in a timely
fashion to be filed as soon as possible, and Council by motion at the January 7,
2002 meeting endorsed a contribution of$8,500 to this effort.
NOW, THERE~, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, _ members concurring:
Section 1. That an additional contribution of $8,500 be made to the "NO ON
STATE CONTROL OF PROPERTY RIGHTS" Committee for the purpose of
covering expenses to place the proposed referendum on the November 2002 ballot
with the State of Ohio; and
Section 2. That this Resolution is effective upon passage in accordance with
Section 4.04(a) of the Revised Charter.
