Brautigam, City Manag~f<:r' SS~ Date: May 11, 2006 Initiated by: Michelle L Crandall, Director of Administrative Services Michele Hoyle, Director of Fiscal Administration Re: Resolution 49-06, Accepting the LowestJBest Bid and A warding a Contract for the Renovation of the Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC) Teen Lounge and Wee Folk Room Summary On Monday, May 8, 2006 bids were opened for the DCRC Teen Lounge and Wee Folk Room conversion/renovation project. This is a programmed 2006 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project for which funding was appropriated in the 2006 Operating Budget. The estimate for this project was $302,392. One bid was received for this project: Base Bid Alternate #1 Alternate #2 C.P. Construction $305,000 $12,300 $12,000 Bid Components 0 The Base Bid includes the demolition and renovation of both the existing Wee Folk Room and Teen Lounge areas, as well as the addition of a new 1,697 square- foot outdoor play area that will be adjacent to the new Wee Folk Room and existing bocce courts. 0 Alternate #1 provides for new casework in both the existing teen lounge and the first floor staff kitchen. 0 Alternate #2 provides for three (3) outdoor shade structures: one (1) in the new outdoor play area and two (2) in the existing bocce court area. Staff is recommending award of a contract for the base bid and Alternate #2. Funds for this alternate are available in the 2006 CIP within park renovations and improvements. Staff is not recommending acceptance of Alternate #1 as this is not a vital component of the renovation project. The City of Dublin has not previously worked with c.P. Construction, but references indicated that the company is reputable and will perform satisfactorily. Recommendation Staff recommends adoption of resolution 49-06, accepting the bid and authorizing the City Manager to enter into contract for the renovation of the DCRC Wee Folk room and Teen Lounge and related shade structures in the amount of $317,000.
