Dublin, OH 43017 Phone: 614-410-4400 · Fax: 614-410-4490 Memo To: Members of Dublin City Council From: Jane S. Brautigam, City Manager ~~ Date: April 26, 2006 Initiated By: Fred Hahn, Director of Parks & Open Space Re: Resolution 47-06 - Darree Fields Restroom Project 2006 Summary: On Tuesday, April 11, 2006 bids were opened for the Darree Fields Restroom Project 2006. The funds for this project are included in the 2006 Capital Improvement Program within the total allocation of $885,000 for park development related to Darree Fields. The estimate for this project was $317,000. Two (2) bids were received: Base Bid 1) The Nadalin Company $398,000.00 2) 2K General Construction $382,000.00 The restroom is unique in that it is fully handicap accessible, including two family changing/restroom areas. Also included in the design is a storage room to accommodate the needs of the Miracle League of Central Ohio. These special features added to the total square footage, which increased the cost normally associated with a park restroom. Complete construction details are available for review in the Council conference room. The bids received were higher than anticipated. Staff is working with the low bidder, 2K General Construction, and the architect, Ford and Associates, to identify areas in which to reduce costs while at the same time not detract from the functionality or aesthetics of the structure. Staff will be prepared at the May 1 st Council meeting to detail these proposed cost reductions. Our plan is to incorporate these reductions into a deduct change order after execution of the contract. The low bidder, 2K General, has done previous work for the City and staff has found their work to be satisfactory. Recommendation Staff is recommending adoption of Resolution 47-06 accepting 2K General Construction's base bid of $382,000.00.
