WHEREAS, in the interest of better serving the Village and its res i dents, it has become necessary to create the position of i "Maintenance Superintendant", and to make an appointment to said I position: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Dublin, State of Ohio, ~ of the members elected thereto con- curring: SECTION I. That the position of "Maintenance Superintendent" be, and it hereby is, established. SECTION 2. Upon recommendation of the Village Administrator, per Section 735.273 of the Ohio Revised Code and, after advertising, proper interviewing and an approved physical examination, JA~~ ~ is hereby appointed to the position of "Maintenance Superintendent" for a probationary period of one year. I 0 SECTION :L. That this Ordinance be, and the same hereby is, de- clared to be an emergency measure necessary for the im.ediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety and for the further reason that said appointment, in the interest of better service, will be effective as of November I, 1977, therefore this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage. CLASSIFICATION- MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDANT GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Supervises, Administers and personally assists in the operation of the Maintenance department. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASSIFICATION: This work involves administrative responsibilities for directing and supervising the operations of the Maintenance/Street D Department and its personne I, under the direction of the Village Administrator. Duties involve assigning personnel, evaluating their performances and instructing and assist: ing them in their duties. Must be capable of commanding the respect of his subordinates and directing the work under ordinary OR emergency conditions. EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative only) Instructs subordinates as to work assignments and pro- cedures, including part time employees. Plans and oversees training programs. Supervises care and maintenance of all department equipment. When necessary, engages in public relations activities. Makes building and other inspections as required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to command respect of subordinates. Ability to direct and supervise the work of others. Ab i I ity to dea I firmly and courteously with the public. Thorough knowledge of the geoqraphy of the Village. Good judgement, dependability and physical condition. V Ability to know what needs to be done, and the abi I ity to actua II y get it done. ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Considerable experience (at least 2 years) in maintenance and street department work. Completion of a standard high school course, with graduate diploma, or any equivelant combination of experience and training, which in the opin- ion of the Village Administrator, provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to qualify for the position.
