WHEREAS, to provide required Clerical service to effectively op- erate the Village Administrative offices, and; WHEREAS, pursuant to Councils directive, advertising has been dor e and applications have been accepted, and; WHEREAS, the Mayor and Administrator are recommending Mary I . Laird for said position, and; WHEREAS, Counc i I is of the opinion that said Mary I . Laird is a suitable person for said position; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Dublin, State of Ohio, ~ of the elected members concurring: SECTION I . That Mary I . Laird be, and hereby is, employed as a Clerical Assistant II of the Village of Dublin, Ohio, and is to commence employment on the 8th day of May, 1979, and this six U month probationary appointment is hereby confirmed. SECTION 2. The starting rate for said position is hereby estab- lished as $3.67 per hour. All other fringe benefits such as Vacat ion, Sick Leave, etc., sha II be as prescribed in Ord i nance 61-77 "THE COMPENSATION PLAN" for the Village of Dublin, Ohio, adopted by Council Oct obe r 17, 1977. In addition, said Mary I . Laird shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half times the established rate for attendance at Mayor's Courts provided, howe\ er that these hours are in excess of the 40 hours per week required. SECTION 3. Counc i I does hereby direct and authorize the Clerk- Treasurer to establish an Appropriation of a sufficient amount tc cover the anticipated costs, including fringe benefits, for said position. SECTION 4. That the duties of said Clerical Assistant II sha II be (but are not necessarily limited to) the duties listed on the attached Job Description hereto attached marked as "Exhibit A" which is hereby made an official part of this Ordinance. SECTION 5. Said Clerical Assistant I I , although primarily In- volved with maintaining police records, Mayor's Court records, (] etc. , sha II be responsible to, and work for, the Administrative Branch, namely the Mayor and Village Administrator. SECTION 6. That this Ordinance be, and hereby' is, declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the pub lie peace, health and safety and for the further reason that said Clerical Assistant II is immediately needed, therefore, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage. This is repetitive clerical work per- f formed in accordance with a prescribed routine. Typing is of a recurring nature and shall be reviewed for accuracy in form, spelling and grammar. The person should manifest a willingness to learn and perform tasks of progressively increasing difficulty. Examoles of Work: (illustrative only) Works primarily in the Police Department to sort, index, file and m.intain various police materials and records as required; Serves as receptionist, directing callers to the proper offices or person; Types letters, memoranda~reports, etc., and proofreads all typewritten materials; Operates copy machine, adding machine and other related office machines as required; Shall serve a. the Clerk for Mayor'. Court, two (2) night. per month, and perform all accompanying clerical duties required, including all re- cord keeping, ledger work and financial matters; Shall perform such other clerical or secretarial duties as may be directed by the Mayor or Village Administrator. Required Knowledge. Skills and Abilities: l:) Some knowledge of office terminology, procedure. end equip..nt; end of .' Engl ish and arithmetic. Abi I ity to type at a reasonable speed with ac- , curacy; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to get along well with others; ability to write legibly. Clerical aptitude, mental alertness, tact and courtesy, and good physical condition are necessary attributes.
