AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE 14 -07
(AMENDED), REINSTATING THE STREET NAME OF
SCHERERS PLACE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, Council previously approved Ordinance 14 -07 (amended), changing
the street name of Scherers Place to Dulaney Court; and
WHEREAS, following approval of the ordinance, Council requested that staff
research another name option for this street, and therefore, staff did not file the name
change with the Franklin County Engineer's office; and
WHEREAS, the business owner who originally requested the name change has
subsequently withdrawn his request for such name change and desires that the street
name remain as "Scherers Place."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, V of the elected members concurring, that:
Section 1. Ordinance 14- 07(amended) is hereby repealed.
Section 2. The existing street name of "Scherers Place" shall remain in place.
Section 3. This ordinance is declared to be an emergency for the preservation of
the health, safety and welfare of the residents, and for the further reason that the
affected property owner has requested this action be taken at the earliest date
possible to eliminate further confusion regarding the name of the street. Therefore,
this ordinance shall be effective upon passage.

Re: Ordinance 59 -07 - Repealing Ordinance 14 -07 (Amended), Reinstating the
Street Name of Scherers Place, and Declaring an Emergency.
Summary
On January 9, 2007, the Division of Engineering staff was approached by an LSP Technologies, Inc.
(LSP) official requesting a name change for Scherers Place. LSP made the request due to problems
they were experiencing with their large deliveries. LSP is the only company addressed off of
Scherers Place and, therefore, the only company affected by the change. Staff submitted name
change legislation to Council. The following is a summary of Council's activity:
• March 5, 2007 — Staff presented Ordinance 14 -07 to Council requesting that
Scherers Place be changed to Laser Lane. Council requested that staff propose a
name that was more Gaelic in nature than Laser.
• March 19, 2007 — Staff requested that action on the Ordinance be postponed until
the April 9 th Council meeting.
• April 9, 2007 — Staff reported to Council that they were working with LSP. Staff
had suggested Kilt Court as an alternative name for Scherers Place but had not
received a response from the company as of April 9.
• April 23, 2007 — Staff submitted the name of "Dulaney Court" to Council as a
replacement for Scherers Place. Council approved Ordinance 14 -07 authorizing
the name change.
• April 27, 2007 — Staff provided Council with background information on the name
Dulaney. The name was suggested by LSP, and staff subsequently learned that it
is the name of the founder and current CEO of LSP. Council requested that staff
re -visit the name change.
• July 16, 2007 — Staff received the attached communication from LSP stating they
are no longer experiencing shipment delivery problems and would like Council to
reinstate Scherers Place as the street name.
Recommendation
Staff recommends the street name of Scherers Place be reinstated by approving Ordinance 59 -07 by
emergency action on August 6, 2007.

Kristin,
Since we had started this process, for whatever reason we have not
had any of the miss - deliveries that we were experiencing and have
concluded that it will also be a greater inconvenience to us, our
customers and suppliers than we intended. So if we can discontinue
the process without great harm, we very much would like to do so.
