SECTION 1. That the Village Administrator be, and her._, author'lzed
and direoted to advertise for bids for a new Polioe C' er having the
following specifications: '/.:.....
The Cruiser shall be a new 1973 model, four door sedan. Wheel base not
less than 119.0 inohes. Color shall be specified on the purchase order,
and. shall be White.
SEATS AND UPHOLS;TERY: Front :heavy duty springs,oushions and backs,oushion
to have foam rubber pads,heavy duty arms for support of seat baoks. (Fleet
model not acoeptable). Rear: Standard as supplied for ourrent models.
Covering material:Nylon oloth with vinyl trim;oolors to harmonize. Color
seleotion information to be furnished with bids.
ENGINE; Shall be v-a not less than 400 oubio inches, nor less than 160 H.P.
net, Four-barrel carbeurator ,duai exhausts ,replaoable dry element type air
oleaner and full flow oil filter. Top speed oapability must be at least 120
M.P.H. as delivered, using reg~fuel.
FUEL SYSTEM: The fuel system shall oonsist of a gasoline tank, oapacity not ......-..
,,- less than 20 gallons. A mecljanioal fuel pump shall be furnished.

TRANSMISSION: Shall be the Hydro-matic ,Cruiae.o-matio ,T~rqueF1ite or equal

~ 3 speed automatio.
AXLES: The front wheel suspension and rear axles are to be of sturdy const-
ruotion and capable of sustaining the total gross load at ground without
evidence of overloadings. The rear axles shall be of the bevel gear hypoid
type and of such design and oonstruction as to be oapable of transmitting
to the driving wheels the tull torque of the engine, as developed through the
highest numerioal gear reduction provided in the transmission. The gear ratio
shall be as reocomended by the manufacturer and shall be listed with the bid.
TIRES: Shall be High spped police type nylon, full four ply, mounted on a
6" safety rim. One spare tire and wheel shall be furnished with the vehicle.
SPRING AND SHOCK ABSORBERS: Shall be equipped with heavy duty front and
rear suspension, heavy duty front and rear shock absorbers, and heavy duty
stabilizer bar.
WHEEL AND BRAKES: Shall be 15 inch wheels with power brakes, Front wheels
to be diso type brakes.
ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT: The generator shall be an Alternator system with
\f"'. aJDDeter. Shall be heavy duty 60 to 65 ampere output and with high output
at idling speed. The system shall be oomplete with transistorized voltage -
regulator. Battery shall be not less than 70 amps, Shall be equipped with
...... radio noise suppression equipment, which shall include suppression type -
spark plugs, wiring, bonding straps,etc.
STEERING: Shall be power steering.
LIGHTS: The lighting eq'ipme1ljf shall be anuraoturere standard.
AIR CONDITIONING: Shall be factory installed with vented outlets in instru-
ment panel. Shall have an aooeptable automatic control to out the air cond-
itioners oompression off When speed of vehicle reaches and exceeds 75 MPH,
or an aooeptable compressor designed and warranted for high speed operation.

13. One manual oontrol throttle. or fast idle devioe.
14. One visible oil guage(opposed to red light type)
15. Three switohes mounted on a plate. installed in the spaoe provided for ins-
tallation of a commeroial radio. Two way switohes with 36" of 12 guage
lead-in wire to eaoh switoh.
16. One solenoid to activate siren, with 36" of 6 guage lead-in wire.
Delivery date is to be speoified in the bid.
All bids shall be sealed and shall be filed with the Village Administrator.

SECTION 2. That this ordinanoe be. and the same hereby is. deolared to be an
emergenoy measure neoessary for the immediate preservation of the public
health and safety for the reason that a new cruiser is presently needed to
protect the health and safety of the residents of the Village. and this
ordinanoe shall take effect and be in foroe immediately upon its passage.
