15-87 Resolution RESOLUTION NO. 15-57 CELEBRATING THE BICENTENNIAL OF THE U.S. CONSTITUTION WHEREAS, two centuries ago in 1787, delegates in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania signed the newly created national Constitution; and WHEREAS, the United States of America is preparing to commemorate the bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution; and WHEREAS, the years 1987 through 1991 have been designated by Congress as the official period for commemoration of the Bicentennial of the Constitution of the United States; and WHEREAS, Congress has given the Commission a lifespan through 1991 to reocgnize the 200th anniversaries of the signing of the Constitution, the ratification process, the formation of the federal government, and the adoption of the first ten amendments now known as the Bill of Rights; and WHEREAS, Ohio is number three in the nation in the number of designated bicentennial communities; and WHEREAS, the 200th Anniversary of the signage of the U.S. Constitution, September 17, 1987, is an opportunity for all Ohioans to reaffirm their belief in the fundamental principles of our great nation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Village of Dublin, State of Ohio, 6 of the elected members concurring, that we, the citizens of Dublin, Ohio, join in with all communities in the United States of America in celebrating, for the reasons stated above, the 200th Anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1987.
