GCY has reviewed the poured concre;te foundation wall installation conceming the tront porch
foundations_ The front porch fotandation wa1Ls arc noted to consist of 8 inch wide by approximate 4 feet
high wa11s resting on standa.td 8 inch deep by 16 inch wide footings. The fouiidation walls are xeinforced
with (2) #5 reinforcing bars placed within tlie boitom and top of tihe wall horizontally extending frozn the
bascznent walls across the step locations fronl tlic basement to the upper level porch area and I:hen
continuous ttirough the porch walls. It slzould be noted Chat a bacl?'illed scwex' line tap excavation extends
below the fiont wall of the porch. Conerete footings were bulk-headed 5hort of the trench on both sides
of the trench restinb on stable beanng soils. A gap of approximately 10 feet is noted between the Uulk-
hcaded footings centered over the h'ench. As noted, reinforccment extends from the Uasement 'vvalls
continuously thz'ough the porch foundation walls. It should be noted that fv.11 length 20 foot long
reinforcing bars vvere placed continuous in the wall across the trench location. In consideration of ihe
noted reinforcem,ent and dimensions of the poured wall, GCI is of the opinion that proper reinforcernent is
preseztt to create a beam, affect to cross the step locations from the basement to the porch area and to span
the trench area. It should be noted that basement and uppez' l.evel porch footi-ngs are excavated onto fimZ
and stable, broWn clayey-silt soils exhibiting soil bearing capacities in excess of 2,000 psf It i.s otu
understanding that the cavity within the porcll area Wil] be filled Nvith #2 limestone far support of Iloor
slabs and to maintaui drainage_

To Whom It May Concern:
The poured concrete walls that run around the front porch have two rows of
#5 rebar with two bars in each row horizontal. All four horizontal bars begin
at the basement walls and end at the basement walls. The four bars over the
front jump are all fu1120' lengths. This creates concrete lintels that are able
to support the porch. The porch will be filled with #2 limestone under walls
for added slab support and free drainage.
