System is used as an inteNor nonload-bearing wa11 rtraming
system.
3.0 DESCRIPTlON
3.1 General:
The nonload-bearing steel studs, stud extensions and tracks
are cold-formed fiam steel complying with Section 2209,1 of
the IBC.
The studs are availabie in five depths and threa thicknesses
as noted in Table 1,
The studs and tracks have a patended snap-lock system
that permits stud installatian to the #op and bottom tracks
withvut the use of fasteners. 'ihe studs ara also avaflable in
a telescoping configuration, with one end of the studs capable
of expanding a maximum'/, of the m"mum allowable watl
height, with a minimum extension overlap between the stud
extension and the Stud as noted in Figute 1. The stLds have
a maximum web hole size of 4 inches by 1'/2 inches (102 mm
by 38 mm). The minimum distance from end of stud to near
edge of web hole is 10 inches (250 mm), and the holes are
spaced a minimum of 24 inches (610 mm) on center.
3,2 Materlals:
All stael complies with ASTM A 653, 5S Grade 33, with a
minimum yield stress of 33,000 Psi (228 Mpa). Galvanized
corrosion protection complies with ASTM A 645 with a
minimum G40 galvanlzation,
4.0 DESIGN AND INS7ALLATION
4.1 Design:
Table 4 specifies the allowabie interior nonload-bearing fixed
and telescoping stud heightsi based on the stn,ciural
properties of the steel studs noted in Table 2.
The design for lateral support of the top and bottom tracks
shatl consider the struch,ral praperties noted (n Table 3.
4,2 Instalfatlon-
The ends of the steal studs and stud extensions shall be fuced
in pface to the tap and bottom steel tracks by means of the
seN-Iocking mechanism. The top and bottom of the steel stud
or stud extension shall bs inserted at an offse# angle into the
steei track at 90 degrees to the track at the correct spacing,
and rotated until the stud or stud extension is wedged into
place in the track. Anchorage af the top and bottom steel
tracks to the supporting structure shail be by an approved
fastening system.
5.0 COND1710NS OF USE
The Trakloc Non-load Bearing/Non-composite Wall Framing
System descnbed in this reportoomplieswith, or is a suitable
altemative to what is specified in, the code shown in Section
1.0 of thls report, subject to the following canditlons:
5.1 Studs and tracks are manufactured, idenafled and
installed in accordance with this report and the
manufacturer's instrucaons.
5.2 Allowsb(e heights, spacings and loadings shafl not
exceed the values noted in Table 4 of this report.
5.3 The uncoated minimt,m steel thickrress of the cold-
tormed steel studs and tradcs, as delivered to the
jobsite, shall be at leastthe minimum design base-metal
thickness as specfied in Table 1 of this report.
5.4 Calculations and drawings demonstrabing complisnce
with this report shall be submltted to the building official.
The calculations and drawings shall be prepared by a
registeced design professional where required by the
statutes of the jurisdiction in which the projed is to be
constructed.
5.5 The Trakloc Non-load Beanng/Non-composite Wall
Framing System, described in this report, has not been
evaluated for use as a fire-resistance-rated assembly.
5.6 The studs and tracks are manufactured at Trakloc Mid-
America, MiddletoWn, Ohio.

7.0 IDENTIFICATION
Each stud, stud extension and track shail have markings,
spaced at a maxirnum of 48 inches on center, indicating tha
manufacturer's name (TrakJoc International), the ICGES
evaluation report number (ESR-1464), uncoated base-
material thickness (expressed in decimal thlCknsss), and a
product tracking code. Each stud, stud extension and track
shall also be mariced as "nonload-bearing.'
