The list of items, which is attached to and is a part of the agreement, is accepted by both the Project Manager/General Contractor and the Owner/Occupant, documentation of those items necessary to be completed prior to the project receiving final approval, 4. As you requested and authorized, a GCI representative reported to the referenced site on,Monday, August 6, 2007 to observe open foundation excavations for the proposed single-f tsilly home. 110 proposed house will be a conventional tyro-story, wood-frame dwelling with a partial basement, crawl space, and an attached slab-on-grade gavage am. 'I're house will be constructed on conventional block Foundation was. The lot slopes down from north/northeast to south/southwest toward a small stream. We understood the house will be constructed with a "walk-out" basement facing the rear (south) side of the proposed building footprint. As such, the rent basement wall foundation will be stlg4wd down for adequate frost cover. The excavation contractor (Tysigger) started the foundation excavation work on Friday, August 3, 2001, prior to OCI's site visit. Tysinger started the basement excavation aloes the south side of So proposed building footprint, and completed fowulati1oa excavations for the deeper frost footing excavation along the rear portion of the building footprint. GCI evaluated the foundation bearing soils based to the materials we observed in the sidewalls of the basement exoavatio% the soil observed at the bottom of the foundation excavations, and by probing the bearing soils with a half inch diameter owl rod. GCI previously observed foundation excavations for several building lots within close proximity to the referenced property. We desonbe below tbo general subsurface conditions. 'Ile bastanent excavation for the approximate south three-quarters of the Wilding footprint encountered 3 feet to 6 feet of topsoil fill. The topsoil fill extended close to design basement srrbgrade elevation. At or close to basement subarade elevation, we observed a layer of organic matter and soots indicative of the original ground swface. We also observed a layer of apparent natural topsoil bck w.**c root mat. The basament4evel foundation excavations extended through the topsoil fill and dudedying natural topsoil layer at design bottom-of-footing grades. The garage foundation excavations also encountered brown Ilan clay fill at design bottom-of-footing grade. In general, the fell on the north :side of the building footprint was relatively "aleae" and free of excessive amounts of topsoil and organic iuewr The existing lean clay fill within the crawl space and prop areas appeared film and stable. The materials "out" cleanly when excavated with the track hoe. Probing with a half- w-b diameter steel rod indicated the kart clay fill ww also firm and stable. Based on G1CPs site observations, it was our opinion that the contractor could construct the crawl space and garage wall foundations an the existing lean clay 511 at design bottom-of-footing grade. Based on GCI's site observations, it vans our opinion that foundation excavations for the north crawl space wall footing and the slab-on-grade garage arts could be "stepped up" and terminated within the existing fill at design bottom-of footing grade. We observed a thin layer of trapped topsoil between the fell and the underlying natural soil along the west and north sides of the garage footprint. Based on site conditions and GC.I's recommendations, Tysinger undercut a portion of the west garage fmueadation and the north garage wall foofmg.througli tla trapped topsoil to stable, natural lean clay.
