Re: FLG Metro Applicant: Advanced Electrical 565 Metro Place South, First & Second Floors (614) 879-7993 Fire Protection Permit No: 07-201364 The Fire Alarm Drawings dated 07-09-07, submitted with the Fire Protection Permit Application, for the captioned project, has been reviewed for compliance with the provisions of the 2007 Ohio Building Code (OBC). The review was based upon the following criteria: Use: B, Business offices. Construction: II B, Non-Combustible/Unprotected Structure. Area: 11,200 SF [5,895 SF First Floor + 5,305 Second Floor] Occupancy: 112 Total Notes: Proposed new fire alarm/detection system for the new business office layout. The Fire Alarm Drawings are signed and sealed by Perry Conrardy, Ohio registered engineer no. 52261. The fire protection contractor is Advanced Electrical Professionals, Certification #53-49-1012 and the Application identifies the fire alarm systems Installer as James Hanson Jr., Certification #54-25-2507, all to comply with the requirements of OBC Section 105.3 and have been reviewed, therefore, in accord with OBC section 105.3.1.4. This NONCONFORMANCE PLAN APPROVAL is issued by the City of Dublin, Division of Building Standards, in accordance with Section 106.3.1.1 OBC. The building official may approve construction documents which do not conform with the requirements of the rules of the board when such nonconformance is not considered to result in serious hazard and the owner's representative subsequently submits revised construction documents showing evidence of compliance with the applicable rules. In the event such documents are not received within thirty days, the building official shall issue an adjudication order revoking the plan approval. (Emphasis Added) The final date for submission of revised documents with the following item(s) in full compliance with the OBC is OCTOBER 12, 2007 as a condition of the issuance of this Plan Approval. Part I of this notice serves as a Correction Letter, allowing you to resubmit revised plans and/or additional information as noted. City of Dublin FIRE PROTECTION PLAN REVIEW 07-201364 FLG Metro - Fire Alarm / Detection System September 25, 2007 07-201364 Page 2 PART 1. CORRECTION LETTER The following item(s) shall be brought into full conformance with the 2007 OBC prior to the issuance of final plan approval. 1. OBC 106.1.1 Information on construction documents. Because the construction documents do not have enough information for a complete plan review, this correction letter is a request for missing information and contains a review only of the items submitted. A complete review will be performed upon receipt of the required information. This may result in additional items not contained in this correction letter; Section 106 OBC. Submit the following minimum information for review: 1.1 The Drawing Legend and specification cut-sheets did not indicate which "Model Number" of each device was being selected for use on this project. Please provide so that we may complete our review of this application. 1.2 Please provide 'revised' battery calculations for the existing fire alarm control panel, verifying the current size of the batteries provided, pursuant to the new load you are adding with the inclusion of these new devices. For the information of the Applicant the following item(s) are required for code compliance, but are not necessarily covered in detail in the construction documents This list is a reminder to the design professional and contractors of issues which are to be satisfactorily dealt with in the field: 2. The certificate of approval of fire protection plans shall be posted in a conspicuous location outside of the building or in the front part of the premises on which is, or will be, located the approved building or equipment. The owner and the contractor shall, so far as possible, preserve and keep said certificate until the completion of the work to which the approved construction documents relate; Section 105.7.2 OBC. 3. The proposed construction shall conform to the requirements of Chapter 11 OBC and the "Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines" (ADAAG). 4. Provide a record of completion for each completed fire alarm system in accordance with Section 907.17 and NFPA 72 Completion Documents. 5. Upon completion of the fire protective signaling system, all alarm-initiating devices and circuits, alarm- indicating appliances and circuits, supervisory-signal initiating devices and circuits, signaling line circuits, and primary and secondary power supplies shall be subjected to a 100 percent acceptance test in accordance with NFPA 72A and 72E listed in Chapter 35; Section 907.16 OBC. 6. OBC 907 Acceptance testing: When the installation of the detectors is complete, each detector and all interconnecting wiring for multiple-station detectors shall be subject to a 100-percent acceptance test in accordance with the household fire warning equipment provisions of NFPA 72 listed in Chapter 35. 7. No electrical work (conduits, cables or other electrical apparatus) may be covered or concealed without visual inspection and approval by the electrical field inspector as per OBC 109. 8. These set- tings are acceptable only for private mode fire alarm use. Use the high dBA setting for public mode application (not applicable when using the chime tone. The chime tone is always private mode). Notes: The sound output for the temporal 3 tone is rated lower since the time the horn is off is averaged into the sound output rating. While the horn is producing a tone in the temporal 3 mode its sound pressure is the same as the continuous mode. To obtain the horn.-strobe current draw, add the strobe current draw and the horn current draw. I The listed reverberant dBA are for the Continuous Tone mode. The Temporal 3 Tone has a reverberant dBA @ 10ft. per UL 464 is 77-83 with a horn current draw of 34mA. 2 RMS current ratings are per UL average RMS method. UL max current rating is the maximum RMS current within the listed voltage range (16-33VDC for 24VDC units) (8-17VDC for 12VDC units). For strobes the UL max current is usually at the minimum listed voltage (16VDC for 24VDC units) (8VDC for 12VDC units). For audibles the max current is usually at the maximum listed voltage. Detector sensitivity can be programmed in the control panel software. Sensitivity is continuously moni- tored and reported to the panel. Point ID capability allows each detector's address to be set th ^'aca ''-'-"ss switches, providing exact detector location for selective main- tenance when chamber contamination reaches an unaccept- 4 able level. Dual electronic thermistors add 135°F (57°C) fixed-temperature thermal sens- ing on the FSP-851T. FSP-851 and FSP-851T detectors are compatible with all Notifier intelligent Fire Alarm Control Pan- els (FACP). yY t FlashScan® (U.S. Patent 5,539,389) is a communication pro- tocol developed by Notifier engineering that greatly enhances the speed of communication between analog intelligent f' devices. Intelligent devices communicate in a grouped fash- ion. If one of the devices in the group has new information, the panel's CPU stops the group poll and concentrates on single points.
