Re: Marvin Financial - Fire Alarm System Applicant: Kevin Morgan Electric LLC
655 Metro Place South, Suite 400 (614) 374-9676
Fire Protection Permit No: 07-201130(1)
The Revised Fire Alarm Drawings, submitted with the Fire Protection Permit Application, for the captioned
project, has been reviewed for compliance with the provisions of the 2007 Ohio Building Code (OBC). The review
was based upon the following criteria:
Use Group: B, Business office.
Occupancy: No Change
Area: No Change
Const. Type: II B, Noncombustible-Unprotected
Notes: New Fire Alarm/Detection System for the new Tenant Space in this existing building.
The fire protective signaling system drawings have been Certified by Robert G. Sines 111, Ohio certification no.
F-032, the fire protection Contractor is Kevin Morgan Electric LLC, Ohio certification #54-45-1349, the installer
has been identified as Kevin Morgan, Certification 924580, all to comply with the requirements of OBC Section
105.3 and have been reviewed, therefore, in accord with OBC section 105.3.1.4.
Due to violations of the Ohio Building Code (OBC), which may constitute a serious hazard, the City of Dublin,
Division of Building Standards is unable to issue plan approval at this time without the additional information or
corrections indicated below. This CORRECTION REQUEST LETTER is not a disapproval of the plans, but is
a request for clarification and/or modification of the following items:
The following item(s) shall be brought into full conformance with the OBC prior to the issuance of any
conditional or final plan approval:
1. OBC 907.1.1 Construction documents. Construction documents for fire alarm systems shall be
submitted for review and approval prior to system installation. Construction documents shall include, but
not be limited to, all of the following:
1. A floor plan which indicates the use of all rooms.
2. Locations of alarm-initiating and notification appliances.
3. Alarm control and trouble signaling equipment.
4. Annunciation.
5. Power connection.

6. Battery calculations.
7. Conductor type and sizes.
8. Voltage drop calculations.
9. Manufacturers, model numbers and listing information for equipment, devices and materials.
10. Details of ceiling height and construction.
11. The interface of fire safety control functions
Please submit information corresponding to item nos. land 91 as listed above. Please submit this
information so that we may continue our review of this application. Please know that the information
received in your recent re-submission did not identify the conductor types or sizes to be used on the
devices wired within this Suite. A `lire Legend' was provided however, no point-to-point wiring of the
circuits was shown or noted, such as was done on the `Ameriprise Financial Advisor' tenant, located
on the same floor. Please provide this information for the (4) new devices to be wired as well as for the
Relocated devices shown.
2. OBC 907.9 Alarm notification appliances. Alarm notification appliances shall be provided and shall be
listed for their purpose. Audible and visual alarms shall be installed in accordance with the "ADAAG" and
NFPA 72.
ADAAG 4.28.3. Visual alarm initiating signal appliances shall be mounted in accordance with Section
4.28.3 ADAAG.
(6) The appliance shall be placed 80 in. above the highest floor level within the space or 6 in below the
ceiling, whichever is lower.
In accordance with the provisions of these code sections, the measurement for the `appliance' shall be
taken to the `area' of the visual alarm initiating device lens. This appliance measurement shall placed
such that the bottom of the lens is not less than 80 inches above the finish floor surface or 6 inches below
the ceiling, whichever is lower. Please verify the measurements of the device lens, as taken from the finish
floor surface. The `revised' Sheet FA-105 now calls for the "Visual Only Devices Mounted at 6'-11 "
A.F.F." This is a `new' addition to this sheet, which brings up a few additional questions First, are
there g a "visual only"devices scheduled for use in this Tenant space? The drawings do not show any.
Secondly, this mounting dimension does not comply with the code requirements for any type of visual
device, whether visual only or combination audible/visual. Lastly, the Device Mounting Heights
`legend' as shown on Sheet FA-601 is correct, but is in direct conflict with the new note that was added
to Sheet FA-105. Please clarify which is correct for this application and revise the drawings
accordingly.
This review does not preclude the necessity to conform with provisions which may have been omitted or
overlooked in the review process, but which are requirements of the code. Ultimate responsibility for legal
compliance with the Standards of Safety rest with the registered design professional, the tenant and the owner.
Plan Approval will be valid only upon receipt by the City of Dublin, Division of Building Standards, of one signed
copy of this addendum.
