The revised plans printed 11/01/2007 and the drawings submitted under cover of a letter dated
November 7, 2007 for the captioned project have been reviewed for compliance with the provisions of the
Ohio Building Code (2007). The review was based upon the following criteria:

The architectural and mechanical documents are sealed by Donald W. Schofield, Ohio registered architect
#6111 to comply with the requirements of the OBC Section 106.3.4.1 and have been reviewed, therefore,
in accord with OBC Section 104.1.
OBC 106.3.1 Approval of construction documents. When the construction documents have been
determined to conform to the applicable provisions of the rules of the Board in accordance with the
procedures set forth in Section 105.3.1, the building official shall endorse or stamp such plans as approved.
One set of construction documents shall be kept by the building official. The other set(s) shall be returned
to the applicant, kept at the work site and shall be open for inspection by the building official or the
building official's designated representative.
This APPROVAL does not preclude the acquisition of separate permits for plumbing, mechanical,
sprinkler or electric. Permits and fees for these items must be obtained from the Building Division prior to
the start of any work in these areas.
The following items are required for code compliance, but are not necessarily covered in detail in the
construction documents. This list is a reminder to the design professional and contractors of issues which are
to be satisfactorily dealt with in the field.
Item A OBC 106.3.1 Approval of construction documents. When the construction documents have
been determined to conform to the applicable provisions of the rules of the Board in accordance
with the procedures set forth in Section 105.3.1, the building official shall endorse or stamp such
plans as approved. One set of construction documents shall be kept by the building official. The
other set(s) shall be returned to the applicant, kept at the work site and shall be open for inspection
by the building official or the building official's designated representative.

Item B OBC 105.7.2 Posting. The certificate of plan approval shall be posted in a conspicuous location
outside of the building and in the front part of the premises on which is, or will be the approved
building or equipment to which the approved plans relate. The owner and the contractor shall, so
far as possible, preserve and keep the certificate posted until the completion of the work to which
the approved plans relate.
Item C OBC 106.4 Amended construction documents. If substantive changes to the building are
contemplated after first document submission, or during construction, those changes must be
submitted to the building official for review and approval prior to those changes being executed.
The building official may waive this requirement in the instance of an emergency repair, or similar
instance.
Item D OBC 1103.2.1 Specific requirements. Accessibility is required in buildings and facilities, or portions
thereof, to the extent indicated in ADAAG Section 4.1 and this chapter.
Item E All electrical will comply with the requirements of Article 27 OBC and the National Electrical Code,
NFPA 70, OBC approved edition and is subject to the approval of the electrical field inspector.
Item F The existing electrical conductors, if removed, abandoned, or altered, shall be accomplished to the
electrical field inspector's approval. Electrical work found not to meet the code's standards shall be
corrected to the electrical field inspector's approval
The start of construction indicates acceptance of all of the conditions listed above. This review does not
preclude the necessity to conform with provisions which may have been omitted or overlooked in the review
process, but which are requirements of the code. Ultimate responsibility for legal compliance with the
Standards of Safety rests with the registered design professional, the tenant and the owner. Approval will be
valid only upon receipt by the City of Dublin, Division of Building Standards, of one signed copy of this
addendum to the submitted plans.

The architectural and mechanical documents are sealed by Donald W. Schofield, Ohio registered architect
#6111 to comply with the requirements of the OBC Section 106.3.4.1 and have been reviewed, therefore,
in accord with OBC Section 104.1.
OBC 106.3 Examination of documents. The building official shall examine or cause to be examined
the accompanying construction documents and shall ascertain by such examinations whether the
construction indicated and described is in accordance with the requirements of this code.
The construction documents, which have been submitted, do not allow the City of Dublin to issue a permit
to begin construction. The following item(s) shall be brought into full compliance with the the
requirements of the OBC prior to the issuance of any plan approval.
Item 1 106.1.1 Information on construction documents. Construction documents shall be
dimensioned and drawn upon suitable material. Electronic media documents are permitted to
be submitted when approved by the building official. Construction documents shall be
coordinated and of sufficient clarity to indicate the location, nature and extent of the work
proposed and show in detail that it will conform to the provisions of this code. Construction
drawings shall include information necessary to determine compliance with the building,
mechanical, plumbing and fire protection codes such as:
a. 8. Ratings. The fire-resistance ratings of all structural elements as required by this
code, data substantiating all required fire-resistance ratings, including details showing
how penetrations will be made for electrical, mechanical, plumbing and communication
conduits; pipes and systems and the materials and methods for maintaining the required
structural integrity, fire-resistance rating and firestopping.
i. Please provide graphic representation of any fire resistant rated assemblies to be
constructed or through or membrane penetrations of the rated floor, corridor

b. The current codes are the 2007 Ohio Building Code (OBC). Please revise the reference
to the 2005 series of codes under "Building Code Notes " on sheet A1.
C. The "Fire Resistive Construction" box under "Building Code Notes" on sheet Al does
not accurately represent the construction in place. Please revise the data provided.
d. We are unable to determine from the drawings that the clearance for doors 10 and 11
comply with the requirements ofADAAG 4.13.6 Maneuvering Clearances at Doors
Fig 25 (a). Please provide dimensions that indicate compliance.
e. Please confirm that the 1 foot-candle to be measured at the floor along the path of

We have reviewed the drawings for the referenced project submitted to the City for review October 1, 2007 for matters of
concern to the Washington Township Fire Department regarding rules of the 2007 Ohio Building Code (OBC) and the 2002
Dublin Fire Code (DFC) relating to fire prevention.
We are able to recommend a phased approval of the plans for all work except for the following:
1. The work proposed by the Construction Documents received with this Application, have been reviewed for compliance
with the 2007 Ohio Building Code (OBC). The Code information listed on the Cover Sheet of the drawings, and the
application for permit, shall be revised to reflect this.
2. OBC 1006.4 Performance of system. Emergency lighting facilities shall be arranged to provide initial illumination that

path of egress at floor level. Illumination levels shall be permitted to decline to 0.6 foot-candle (6 lux) average and a
minimum at any point of 0.06 foot-candle (0.6 lux) at the end of the emergency lighting time duration. A
maximum-to-minimum illumination uniformity ratio of 40 to 1 shall not be exceeded.
OBC 1011.1 Where required. Exits and exit access doors shall be marked by an approved exit sign readily visible
from any direction of egress travel. Access to exits shall be marked by readily visible exit signs in cases where the exit or
the path of egress travel is not immediately visible to the occupants. Exit sign placement shall be such that no point in an
exit access corridor is more than 100 feet (30 480 mm) or the listed viewing distance for the sign, whichever is less,

from the nearest visible exit sign.
a. Additional exit signs and emergency egress lighting may be required by the Field Inspector and~br Fire Marshal
based upon actual 'field conditions, including but not limited to conditions created by the placement and
configuration of moveable office partitions and furnishings. Furthermore, the Exit light shown located within
the Kitchen Room #18 may need to be moved 'out' into the Hall area (#02) to provide better visibility of this
directional exit sign. Also, this exit sign and the one located above door # 18 are not shown to be provided with
any emergency illumination. Reference the symbol Legend provided on Sheet E2. This condition will leave the
exit access through the Kitchen area with little-to-no emergency illumination in this portion of the means of
egress. Please review the anticipated levels of emergency illumination for this area of the plan.
3. DFC OBC 906.1 General. Portable fire extinguishers shall be provided in occupancies and locations as required by the
International Fire Code.
a. The note located on the Cover Sheet indicates that portable,fire extinguishers are to be provided in accordance
with an 'older' code reference. Please verify the requirements of the 2007 OBC, pursuant to the section
referenced herein.
