AMENDING DUBLIN CODIFIED ORDINANCES SECTION 32.63
“MEMBERSHIP” TO ELIMINATE REFERENCE TO THE TERM-END
DATE OF COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMISSION
MEMBERS
WHEREAS, Council appoints all board and commission members pursuant to Section 7.02
of the Revised Charter of the City of Dublin, including the Community Services Advisory
Commission; and
WHEREAS, through separate legislation, Council is creating new term-end dates for board
and commission members to better align with the Council calendar; and
WHEREAS, the term-end date for all Council appointees will now be May 31; and
WHEREAS, the term-end date for Community Services Advisory Commission members is
stated in Section 32.63 of the Dublin Codified Ordinances as March 31 in the year of the
completed term; and
WHEREAS, the Community Services Advisory Commission is the only Dublin board or
commission that has a codified term-end date; and
WHEREAS, in order to create uniformity between all Dublin board and commissions, this
date should be deleted from Section 32.62 of the Dublin Codified Ordinances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, Delaware,
Franklin, and Union Counties, State of Ohio, _W_ of the elected members concurring
that:
Section 1. Section 32.63 of the Dublin Codified Ordinances entitled “Membership” is
hereby revised as follows:
The Community Services Advisory Commission shall be comprised of as many
resident members as Council deems necessary to fulfill the duties of the
Commission, except that at no time shall the Commission have less than three
members as required by Section 7.02 of the Revised Charter of Dublin, Ohio. All
members shall be appointed by Council and shall serve three year terms, subject
to alteration as Council deems necessary to accomplish a staggering of the
expiration of terms.
31_in_the-year_of-the completed term_Members shall serve in accordance with
Section 7.02 of the Revised Charter of Dublin, Ohio. Members shall not be
appointed from specific organizations or groups; however, Council shall endeavor
to appoint persons with expertise in the areas of community services and parks and
recreation, including but not exclusive of, active and passive recreation, cultural
arts/activities, youth activities, senior citizens activities, sustainability, natural
resources and open space preservation.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect in accordance with 4.04(b) of the Dublin
Revised Charter.

Background
City Council has expressed a desire to modify the term-end date for all Council appointees to
better align with the Council calendar. Resolution 27-23 modifies the term-end date for all
currently serving board and commission members.
The Community Services Advisory Commission is the only Dublin board or commission that has a
codified term-end date. Ordinance 11-23 will eliminate the date reference in the Code to create
uniformity between all Dublin boards and commissions.
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of Ordinance 11-23 at the second reading/public hearing on April 10,
2023.
