44-07 ResolutionRECORD OF RESOLUTIONS Dayton Legal Blank Inr Form Nu 30045 44-07 Resolution No Passed , 2U A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE LOWEST AND BEST BID FOR THE DUBLIN COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER INTERIOR RENOVATION PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SAID SERVICES WHEREAS, formal advertising and competitive bidding procedures have been conducted pursuant to Section 8.04 of the Dublin Charter for the Dublin Community Recreation Center Interior Renovation Project; and WHEREAS, bids were opened on June 11, 2007; and WHEREAS, Council has determined that the bid submitted by C..P. Construction in the amount of $624,300 for the base bid and $31,500 for the alternate constitutes the lowest and best bid; and WHEREAS, this is an approved 2007 Capital Improvements Project. NOW, THEREFOF~E, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of Ohio, ~i _ of the elected members concurring, that: Section 1. The bid submitted by C.P. Construction in the amount of $624,300 for the base bid and $31,500 for the alternate be, and hereby is, accepted. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract for said project as specified within the bid proposal and the City's bid documents on file in the Division of Facilities. Section 3. The funds for this project are included in the 2007 Capital Improvements Program. The estimate for this bid, including the alternate, was $795,288.00. The following three bids were received: Base Bid Alternate Total Bid (Base + Alternate) Williamson Builders Inc. $726,548.00 $39,239.00 $765,787.00 Thomas & Marker Construction Co. $610,700.00 $50,000.00 $660,700.00 C.P. Construction $624,300.00 $31,500.00 $655,800.00 This project's base bid consists of replacement of the existing the flooring throughout the first floor hallways and lobby areas, replacement and reconfiguration of the existing front desk, design of a consistent signage package, and design of additional seating areas and painting. Also included in this project and identified as the "Alternate," is the extension of utilities and other modifications to accommodate acafe/coffee shop. This portion of the project was included as an alternate in the event the base bids received were in excess of the estimate. Due to the fact that the bids received are not in excess of the estimate, staff is recommending inclusion of this alternate as part of the project. Recommendation Staff recommends adoption of Resolution 44-07 accepting C.P. Construction's base bid with the alternate in the amount of $655,800.00. C.P. Construction has previously completed work for the City and staff has found the company's performance to be satisfactory.
