A RESOaL,UTION ACCEPTING THE LOWEST AND BEST BID FOR
THE AVERY ROAD /BRAND ROAU ROUNDABOUT PROJECT

WHEREAS, formal advertising and competitive bidding procedures have been
conducted, pursuant to Section 8.04 of the Revised Charter and Chapter 37 of the
Dublin Code, for the Avery Road /Brand Road Roundabout Project;; and
WHEREAS, Council has determined that the bid submitted by Karvo Companies, Inc.
constitutes the lowest and best bid; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
of its elected members concurring, that:
Section 1. The bid submitted by Karvo Companies, Inc. in the total amount of
$1,422,482.13 is hereby accepted.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into contracts with
Karoo Companies, Inc. for performance and completion of the Avery Road /Brand
Road Roundabout Project pursuant to the Advertisement, Proposal and Contract
Documents for said project on file in the office of the City Engineer.
Section 3. This Council further hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager, the
Director of Law, the Director of Finance, the Clerk of Council, or other appropriate
officers of the City to prepare and sign all other agreements and instruments and to
take any other actions as may be necessary to implement this Ordinance and
complete the Project.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect upon passage in accordance with
Section 4.04(a) of the Revised charter.

Avery Road/Brand Road Roundabout Bid Acceptance
On April 11, 2017, six (6) bids were received, publicly opened, and read for the Avery Road/Bran,#!,
Road Roundabout project. This project involves the construction of a modern, single-lane
roundabout, burial of overhead utility lines and landscaping.
The Engineer's estimate is $1,750,000.00. The budgeted funds for this construction project are in
the 2016 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) ET146 and total $2, 135,000.00 (includes funds for
utility company burial).
Karvo Companies, Inc. submitted the lowest and best bid of $1,422,482.13. Staff has reviewed all
bids and a summary of the bids is listed below.

For Council's reference and review, a reduced set of project construction drawings has been placed
in the Council Planning Room.
Staff anticipates the construction to commence in June 2017. The scheduled completion date for
the project is October 6, 2017. The project will be performed in phases, and Brand Road will
remain open to traffic during the majority of the work. Total closure to traffic is scheduled for
seven days at the intersection (roundabout) during the final phase of the project to allow for
placing of the surface course of asphalt.
