Brautigam, City Manager Date: February 12, 2007 Re: Resolution 13-07 Accepting the Lowest and Best Bid for Renovations of the Dublin Community Recreation Center Competitive/Lap Pool HVAC Systems Initiated By: Brian Ashford, Facilities Manager Matthew Earman, Director of Recreation Services Michelle L Crandall, Director of Administrative Services Summary On Monday, January 22, 2007, bids were opened for the DCRC Competitive/Lap Pool HVAC systems renovations, which is Phase I of a two phase project. Phase II of the project includes enhancements to the Leisure Pool HVAC system, which is planned for 2008. Both phases of this project will correct flaws in the design of the Natatorium's HVAC system. Funding for Phase I of this project is programmed in the 2007 CIP. Phase I will modify the existing air handling unit and expand the ductwork serving the Lap Pool in order to increase air circulation and improve air quality. The modifications include a heat recovery system, which could potentially result in energy savings. The Lap Pool portion of the natatorium will also receive a fresh coat of paint. This project will commence on August 13 and completion is scheduled for September 10. This project has been scheduled along with the anticipated front desk/flooring renovation project, with the majority of the work being completed during the annual facility shut-down period scheduled later this summer. Due to the scope of each project, the annual shutdown period will be extended from one week to two weeks. Other minor interruptions in normal operations and programming can be expected, however, plans are in place to minimize the impacts. As more information becomes available relating to the details of these projects, staff will keep Council informed of any adaptations to the DCRC operation. The cost estimate for the HVAC Phase I project was $218,000. Three bids were received with the lowest and best bid being submitted by J.A. Guy. Inc. Company Bid J. A.
