16-07 ResolutionRECORD OF RESOLUTIONS 16-07 Resolution No. Passed , 20 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CITY OF DUBLIN'S GOALS FOR 2007- 2008 1 WHEREAS, City Council met on February 23 and 24, 2007 to conduct a leadership workshop focused on developing the strategic vision for the City of Dublin and establishing goals related to that vision; and WHEREAS, City Council wishes to adopt these goals for 2007-2008; NOW, THEREFO}ZE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of Ohio, ~_ of the elected members concurring, that: Section 1. The following goals are hereby adopted for 2007-2008: Economic Development and Planning 1. Retain, expand, attract and create high tech and knowledge-based jobs to ensure the financial security of the City of Dublin. 2. Focus on the development of the Central Ohio Innovation Center by: • fostering relationships with research and educational institutions; • adopting high quality development standards and implementing a development review process that is predictable and consistent; and • identifying, recruiting, and securing an anchor tenant(s). 1 3. Develop strategies to implement use of publicly-owned bandwidth in the wi-fi and fiber optic systems. 4. Ensure the well planned growth of the U.S. 33 corridor. Focus on regional relationships throughout the corridor to secure the future economic opportunities for the region. 5. Adopt the update to the Community Plan. 6. Implement a plan that ensures a coordinated, connected, and consistent development pattern along the entire S.R. 161 corridor. 7. Revitalize Historic Dublin as a vibrant town centerwith a clearvision of the role of Historic Dublin and implement that vision through a comprehensive action plan. Recreation and Healthy Living 8. Adopt the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. 1 9. Develop integrated parks, facilities, bike paths and open spaces that support healthy living lifestyles and create opportunities to encourage residents to engage in recreational pursuits. Use bike paths to connect neighborhoods, destinations and link with other systems in the metro area. Develop facilities in partnership with other organizations to increase recreational opportunities and options, and to minimize long term maintenance costs. Infrastructure and Community Facilities 10. Review and evaluate utility options to ensure the best future services for the City of Dublin, with particular attention to planning for the City's future water and sewer system needs. Incorporate public art into community improvements. Implement the Public Art recommendations of the Community Plan. A "Green" Community 13. Develop an environmentally aware community by: • encouraging sustainable building practices and environmentally sensitive site development through the use of appropriate zoning and development incentives; • increasing the recycling diversion rate through expansion of the large bin curbside recycling program and increased educational efforts specific to recycling; • providing educational opportunities and activities for residents and corporate citizens to become actively engaged with the City in environmentally friendly practices. • communicating with our community and our employees City efforts and practices that are focused on environmental stewardship. 1 Section 2. Resolution 16-07 summarizes Council's discussion into four broad areas and 13 specific goal statements. These statements are: Economic Development and Planning 1.
