AN ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF A
PORTION OF MANLEY ROAD TO AVERY ROAD
IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO
WHEREAS, the City requests that the street name for the section of Manley Road
north of the Franklin-Delaware County line to the intersection with Glick Road be
changed to Avery Road; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Engineering and Division of Police have reviewed this
request and determined such action would not be detrimental to the public health,
welfare or safety.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That the name of Manley Road north of the Franklin-Delaware County
line to the intersection with Glick Road is hereby changed to Avery Road.
Section 2. That the City Engineer is hereby directed to have the plat corrected to
conform to this change.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force on after the earliest
date permitted byla//w. //II

Re: Ordinance 64-OS Requesting Approval to Change the Name of a portion of Manley
Road to Avery Road in the City of Dublin, Ohio
Summary
Engineering would like to change the name of Manley Road north of the Franklin -Delaware County
line to the Glick Road intersection, to Avery Road. There has been confusion for many years whether
the portion of roadway in this area is Avery or Manley Road. Based on our research, Avery Road
extends to the Franklin -Delaware County Line, but has not been changed north of that point. The
only affected property owner is the City of Dublin School District -Deer Run Elementary and
Grizzell Middle School. We have worked with them and have attached a letter indicating their
support of the street name change. The attached figure shows which portion of Manley Road we
would like to change to Avery Road (highlighted in yellow).
Recommendation
Council had a first reading of this ordinance on October 3, 2005. At that time the ordinance and
memo incorrectly stated the affected county was Union County. The correct county is Delaware, the
memo and ordinance ha~een changed accordingly. Staff recommends approval of this road name
change as described in the ordinance.
